Gulf Stream Disruption ???

I have stumbled on the following discussion group as related to the strange weather in Europe and possibility that the anomalies in the Gulf Stream may be the reason for them.

The Gulf Stream meanders on its path. The meanders produce local changes in ocean temperatures.

None of these short-term changes have anything to do with a Broecker-style disruption of the Gulf Stream.

Yep, things are a little nippy over here today, I have the heating on in May

It's kerosene, if you were wondering. We're switching to wood fired soon.
We've tried nothin' and we're all out of ideas.

I was actually wondering about this yesterday, we still have the heating on in the office and it's nearly June, it wasn't like this last year.

I live in Italy and we had the heating on on Tuesday. Weird. It was in the mid-thirties Celcius last week.

I'm enjoying the cool weather, reminds me of western Oregon over here. I'm in Germany for a while, and it sure beats the temps expected back home over this summer...

It's about 20 deg c in Cork, Southern Ireland here at the moment.

Can't believe the difference the South facing conservatory has made to the house. We are roasted out of it once there is any daylight. Must upload some pictures later.

is there a picture from this time last year? It would be interesting to compare and contrast. I was in France and Spain in early June and I roasted. Thought I would need a jacket for the hike in the Pyranees and I should have left it at home.

The series of maps is pretty interesting (to the untrained eye), as well as the apparent correlation between the disruption in the Gulf Stream an current cool spell in Europe.

Anyone know how common this kind of occurance is? Does anyone know if the warm, dry weather in the southeast US is related?

I thought that the reason for the weather in Europe lays in the unusual pattern of the Jet Stream.
