$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Plantagenet', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('purcatty', 'I') did notice that the pillar was still standing, which is interesting.

and also the floor below it that was not heated did not collapse at all when hit, because it was cold steel and did not collapse.

So even with a tank trunk it did not pancake through the levels.

It is a good point, when things collpapse, the pillars remain standing, don't they?

I knew the CT folks would seize on this.

Maybe this can be a teaching opportunity in elementary physics.

1. Calcualte the mass of the overpass. Then calculate the mass of the WTC 1 and 2.

Which is larger?

2. Determine the height of the overpass. Then determine the height of the WTC 1 and 2.

Which is larger?

3. Use the gravitational constant and your answers to 1 and 2 to calculate the potential energy present in the overpass and the WTC 1 and 2 prior to collapse.

Which is larger?

4. Use your calculations from 1,2, and 3 in a logical way in an essay either defending or rebutting the CT version of events at the WTC and the overpass.

Trick question, since too many values are unknown to provide a meaningful answer.

Conclusion: Convene Congress to resume investigation of 9/11-related evidence to properly determine these unknown values.

Excellent, "Plantagenet." All of us on the team appreciate the work you're doing here.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Plantagenet', 'W')hy did the overpass COLLAPSE INTO ITS OWN FOOTPRINT?

I hear that just prior to it's collapse the highway patrol was telling other drivers to "Pull over." It's an obvious indication that they were about to blow the pre-positioned thermate charges. Seriously. Look how clean the cut is on the top of that column. Nothing besides thermate could make such a clean cut.

I heard the tanker driver, "James" Mosqueda, took driving lessons but didn't want to learn how to park.

I head that the California DOT reported the highway collapsed on their website half an hour before it actually did.

I heard that all the Teamsters who commute over that highway were told to stay home on 4/29.

I heard the union members were buying highway construction equipment the day before this happened.

I heard that the truck driver met with disciples of Jimmy Hoffa during a period of time that he spent at a trucker's training camp. Some of you already know about Hoffa's 911 involvement. We must demand an inquiry into this connection.

The official cover story for this is that the truck driver had a "history of criminal convictions, including felony drug and burglary arrests".

Press Telegram: Driver shortage led to trucker screening test being relaxed

"The TSA acknowledges that its screening rules are contributing to a trucker shortage but a spokeswoman said Tuesday it isn't designed to identify people with Mosqueda's type of criminal record, which includes a two-year prison term for a 1996 heroin conviction, as well as arrests for burglary, felony drug charges and possession of stolen property, according to court records."

"We're looking for terrorists," spokeswoman Andrea McCauley said. "We're looking for people who would be involved in terrorist activities - that's the scope."

So let's see if I got this right - there is a shortage of truck drivers caused by the TSA's screening rules, which screen out so-called "terrorists" but allow ex-cons with felony drug charges to drive around with trucks loaded with hazardous materials.

Sounds typical of the Bush administration , nothing unusual here.

"While crews sifted through the wreckage, some scientists were studying linkages between the freeway collapse and how the World Trade Center came down on Sept. 11, 2001.

The structural failures appear similar, said David McCallen, division leader in nonproliferation, homeland and international security at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

The steel supporting the overpass turned pliable after the gasoline-fed fire below reached temperatures up to 2,000 degrees (1,093 Celsius) - more than four times as hot as the hottest conventional home oven."

This is the same thing we've been talking about all along - fuel's short, we won't worry WHAT we burn, EPA regulations go down the drain. Drivers in short supply, hire felons!! Chinese wheat cheaper, hey who cares if it's full of melamine? Falling empires tend to eat themselves from within.

Reformed convicts have got to do something to earn a living. Being a truck driver seems like a fine thing for one of them to be doing. Assuming of course that the former convicts are held to the same standard as any other truck driver.

Exactly. Since the military's willing to drop its recruitment standards in this respect, why shouldn't we similarly drop our standards everywhere else? I myself see no problem with felons driving large gasoline-filled trucks along the interchanges and roadways of this great nation of ours. Just the same as I have no problem with felons driving and shooting off our tanks anywhere they please in Iraq.

How else do we expect them to reform unless we are first willing to entrust them in positions of extraordinary responsibility?

I agree, felons have to do something..... but the requirements for a gasoline truck driver in this area is that one not be a felon. The truck itself in inspections was found to continually lack maintenance, little things like brakes and stuff like that. The trucking co. did nothing to fix these "fix it" tickets.

No need for new laws, just enforce the ones on the books.

But we won't do that, because that costs money - again I must say, capitalism will buy the rope to hang itself cut-rate from china, then hang itself.

When do NAFTA regulations go into effect and Mexican truck drivers will be automatically licensed to drive Mexican trucks into the USA?

Fuel Tanker Truck Stolen

Unread postby Niagara » Fri 19 Oct 2007, 14:26:41

I expect to see more and more of this sort of thing with rising fuel prices.

Police Seek Tanker Stolen From Baltimore Gas Station

Forgot car-jacking, the new crime-du-jour will be 'tanker-jacking' :-x

This is the third one I've heard of today.

We should start a sticky "Mad Max" thread to catalog all these events.

I like the "mad max" sticky idea.

Hey, why not steal a tanker? 7,000 gallons of diesel at $3/gallon=$21,000 worth of diesel. If you've got someplace to store/hide the truck, you can drive an awfully long time on that amount of fuel. Or sell it to some business on the black market.
After fueling up their cars, Twyman says they bowed their heads and asked God for cheaper gas. There was no immediate answer, but he says other motorists joined in and the service station owner didn't run them off.

I'd expect crime to increase significantly at gas stations, it could become very deadly at some point. Stealing fuel trucks is a just preview of what is coming.
