so the "game" is people sending in pictures and writing stories about the world running out of oil?

Someone take the time and edit our zombie hordes story together and put the back story that explained the resource wars at the chemical launch near the beginning.

Here I was hoping for something interesting. Perhaps If I'm bored enough I'll see how doomer we can get it.

I like the site, I find it attractive. An attractive well designed site, gives an idea legitmacy.

Unlike peakoil.com, which was made by a monkey rubbing his ass on the screen.

They want to suck your brain for material because it's easier than compiling whats out there... maybe there is a IP component to this method as well. I guess the zombies have arrived. ;) No mention on how to collect a royalty if they use your contribution. Also their weekly graph of gas price only goes to $8... that's not real doomer now is it?

I'm trying to read your post, but there seems to be an undigested piece of banana making it illegible?

HEY!!! That wasn't a very nice thing to say after all the hard work that goes into maintaining this influential and well-read site. Now, I want you to apologize. C'mon, go ahead. You'll feel better afterwards, trust me on this. It would be the nice thing to do.

As well as make it look 45000 times better.

From the site,

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')t invites everyone to help simulate a global oil shock. People participate by contributing original online stories, created as though the oil shock were really happening.

Hahahahaha.

In Zimbabwe life is imitating art already and the real world version of the game is also beginning to appear in our glorious west and elsewhere.

I don't know how much doom they are looking for. My guess is that they are looking for solutions like carpool and bicycle to work. Not the kind of stuff that goes on on these boards. Although you've got to admit that zombie and mutant ant s would add a level of real world interaction that would improve the game. My guess is that they wouldn't see the value in zombies. Mutant ants from the reactors that go haywire once the grid collapses is my idea.

Well I spent all that time and effort writing a blog submission for the World without Oil site and they didn’t even post up a link for it. I mean, what’s wrong with it? True, it might not fit in exactly with their little scenario *yet* but you think they would appreciate a bit of drama to perk things up:

'Things seem to be spiralling out of control really fast now. The electrical grid is up and down like a yo-yo with the longest periods of supply only being a few hours at most. Food is getting harder to come by now, the shelves of the local stores are completely bare. The supermarkets are undoubtedly the same though most people won’t risk the hike out to confirm their fears for fear of being mugged, or worse, eaten. The people are growing increasingly restless, already rioting and looting has gotten out of control in the city centres, martial law will undoubtedly been declared soon. Fortunately we managed to catch the neighbours dog and make some stew, the protein was a nice change and a big boost. We are reinforcing our security after what happened last night. We were lucky that it was only a lone, half-starved thief looking for something edible so we had no trouble bringing him down with a few well aimed blows from a aluminium baseball bat. We're gonna be sure that we're not caught out like that again.'

hah, that's great Ayame...

I'm going to submit mine and see what happens:

Today was a good day. I found a spent cigarette butt and got about two puffs out of it. For those brief seconds I wasn't hungry, wet or cold. It wasn't all rosy though. I went to the grocery store to help unload the truck in hopes of a cup of rice. The truck never showed though as usual. Rumor has it that the 8 out of the last 10 trucks were attacked en route...the food and gas stolen and the driver shot through the temple.

I did say it was a good day though. I was able to kill a seagull with a rock! Tonight I will make a fire out of old tires and celebrate this salty treat of the sea. I also had to kill someone today but I'd rather not talk about it right now. My neighbor Stan tried to make some whiskey, but I think he is blind now. He was a much better tax attorney then a distiller. I'm going to try to sell his kids now that he can't take care of them (his wife died of gonorrhea, work related).

A gang of thugs came through again trying to round up people for the Bank of America Exxon work camps. I hid out in a tree as usual with my Remington 700. I had my scope zeroed in on the foreman's forehead, but I decided not to pull the trigger and blow my cover. They dragged Sally Johnston away by here hair. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Well that's my update for now. I'm going to drink this antifreeze and try to get some sleep. I need to get up early as I here there's good work digging graves. A cup of chicken broth and a cigarette a day! Now that would sure lift the spirits
But how the world turns. One day, cock of the walk. Next, a feather duster.
