More news on Steorn's perpetual motion device.

These guys are back.
April 27, 2007 Steorn is publicly unveiling its “perpetual motion machine” this July, according to the latest video from CEO Sean McCarthy. The Irish company made international headlines after declaring news of its invention, which would theoretically violate the so called laws of thermodynamics, in a full page ad in The Economist in August 2006. However, because its “over 100% efficient” energy system still remains over 100% unverified, McCarthy is currently viewed by academia as about as scientific as an X-men sequel.
I can't wait. Mind you it won't do the old national pride any good

I so hope it's all true.

With some of the crap coming out of the energy market analysts lately, I wouldn't put it past most of them to actually buy into this bullshit themselves.

Maybe they figure it really is too good to be true. I doubt it came from any understanding of thermodynamics.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Madpaddy', 'T')hese guys are back.
Perpetually... :lol:

As far as their device? If they found a way to siphon energy from a parallel dimension, great! And I'll believe it when they have a locomotive running off this thing.

I am sure it is just smoke and mirrors, but I have to admit it's fun to think how this sort of thing could work and not violate the laws of Thermodynamics. For example, if it acted as a sort of heat pump. Like if their device magically used a magnetic field to draw heat energy from magnets and convert that heat into mechanical energy...

Anyway, perpetual motion machines are generally amusing. A long time ago my grandfather bought a perpetual motion clock... You never had to wind it, but you did have to plug it in!

And in other news, the existence of the StarGate will be unveiled in July, along with an alien energy generation technology, the "zero point module", which will be used to help win the war in Iraq and secure oil supplies.

From the publishers website presented to look like content, but it's actually advertising. (Which violates their ad contract BTW)

Open to what?

Changing the laws of physics?

A magnetic heat engine, not perpetual motion but amusing...

MintoWheel is another good one...
Mythbusters built one, using solar power it turned at like 1 revolution per day. :lol:
