I agree with you Heineken. That is a very logical analysis. I ignore all of it though so that I can enjoy American Idol, lol. jboogy, I watch Fox News but only to see what so many Americans are watching and believe. I watch MSNBC and CNN all day until 10 PM (EST) when they don't have anything interesting on anymore. Then I switch to fox.

Whatever works, emailking. I'd rather curl up with a Dickens novel (right now I'm rereading "Great Expectations"---now THAT'S entertainment!). My current entertainment program consists of reading all of Dickens's novels, which will take me a couple of years I'd say.

I agree that occasional mindless entertainment is therapeutic, but the key word is "occasional."

I can't imagine spending large tracts of precious time in front of a boob tube.

I guess I'm just addicted. Probably something I need to work on. Reading isn't something I do either, unless it's about science or our future. Fiction doesn't interest me much, from a reading perspective.

God, I couldn't live without fiction, emailking. Good fiction provides such wonderful insights into the nonfiction side of things.

I read both fiction and nonfiction. Each is important in its own way, and they're connected.

Bravo to you for candor. We all have addictions, and I'm no exception. But I always manage to show them who's boss.
