I like this thread, so here's my questions: what was the best movie ever made, and who was better, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones? do we get two questions? (or three?) oh yeah, who killed JFK?

While in the beginning of industrialization, and the attempt to "better" our lives, I could understand...but now, with everything available to us to change....

why do many of us (me included) continue to pollute the very land that gives us life?

His responce wouldn't be all that different from, say, Pat Robertson's. Except Reverend Pat would sugar coat it and say it with a faked smile.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('inquiry', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cynicalheretic', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('spear', 'O')K,by your answer,now I know you are not the Messiah.

Was this really a concern for you?

TWO MORE QUESTIONS , and no more from me until NEXT YEAR
[u]

1) a)Why do so many sheeple believe blindly in 'God' ?????(definition of God: any and all so called omnipotent & omniscience spiritual/metaphysical entity/entities who(m) takes on various forms/shapes of human personification and intervenes in the daily life's of homo sapiens, and is in control and takes charge of destiny of men, etc)

b) Why are some Monkeys such as myself feel so strongly against this behavior of believing in God that other sheeple choose to do? In essence, why do I feel such a innate hatred towards an imaginary Santa Klaus that doesn't even exists? How can I hate God if I KNOW the truth that he is fake??

2) I know you said FREEDOM as your number one. But if Freedom wasn't a choice please do me a favor and pick the number 2 from the list:

(Love, Beauty, Truth, Happiness, Lust, Passion, Desire, Curiosity, Infatuation, Intrigue, Suspense, Success, Power, Imagination, OTHER (please specify).

====== >>>>>>>> ***** &&&&& ds4g634df54hgf64j5f64j

Sorry the above was to GrAb your attention so you don't miss my thread again!!!!

1 A: They believe in god because they want it to be true. They can’t stand the idea that they will die someday and there will be no more THEM. They also don’t want the responsibility of taking care of themselves. So, they have to have some big daddy in the sky looking out for them. It makes them feel better just like when they were little kids and they knew momma and daddy were just in the next room if they got scared of the dark.

B: Your reason for hating god is your own, don't get me wrong I know there is no god either, but I am guessing you hate god because your life did not turn out as you expected. Perhaps you always figured you be rich by your age, or maybe you came from a broken home. My guess is, that you are not a full blown atheist, but an anarchist who chooses to side against the most common accepted beliefs. Question, do you smoke? Personally the reason I hate Santa Claus is because he never brought me anything worth a shit growing up.

2 A: A toss up between power and humor, I can't really choose on that.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pillowhead', 'c')ynicalheretic - "the human race has always strived to be as lazy as possible."

Thousands of years ago this was true, generally speaking. I would call it "taking the path of least resistance." If we remained that way, perhaps the present situation wouldn't be so dire. Today most people have no choice but to frantically run in a hamster wheel just to get basic necessities.

cynicalheretic - "The few select supermen who wanted and could achieve power did so by giving the masses want they thought they wanted."

Freud would disagree: "civilization is something that was imposed on a resisting majority by a minority which understood how to obtain possession of the means of power and coercion."

Note the word, "resisting." Nobody wanted to do all the idiotic grunt work of plowing a field to feed these "supermen." You said yourself they were lazy. If they were lazy why would they "want" to be beasts of burden?

cynicalheretic - "Over the centuries and a long time ago these people realized that they could not provide everything as people were beginning to take belief in idols and dieties and those in charge realized this and began and push state sponsored religion."

What you have been describing is a paraphrase of what Christians call "Original Sin". Yes, let's just blame it all on "human nature." That explains everything. Looks like you're the one who has been duped by state sponsored religion too.

cynicalheretic - "Once you realize this and accept it, you can see humanity for what it is, and your eyes will truly open for the first time."

Are cows to blame for being part of a factory farm? Is it because of Evil Cow Nature, some Original Sin? It seems to me you are the one with your eyes closed.

There was no orginal sin, as the orginal cause was not a god. When I refer to evil, I do not refer to christian evil but to a moral evil the trancends all. Stop trying to place your own inferiority complex on to me.

Laziness and our own greed. We don't see the immediate effects of what we do to our ecology so we continue on the distructive path.

Is it likely that the zionists and xtian fundies created the wars in the gulf to ultimately destroy any remaining evidence of modern-humans' true beginnings on this planet as an experiment carried out by extra-terrestrials and not some magical, mystical god?

There are reports that some of the first places the us troops ransacked were museums...

')There was no orginal sin, as the orginal cause was not a god.

Doesn't matter what the "original cause" (whatever that means) was. If you say humans are inherently evil, thats not something St. Augustine would argue with.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cynicalheretic', 'W')hen I refer to evil, I do not refer to christian evil but to a moral evil the trancends all.

Sounds pretty Christian to me, Reverend.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cynicalheretic', 'S')top trying to place your own inferiority complex on to me.

Excuse my ignorance. Maybe you could elaborate what you mean by this.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cynicalheretic', 'L')aziness and our own greed. We don't see the immediate effects of what we do to our ecology so we continue on the distructive path.

Consider the Easter Islanders; was it laziness that made them build all those statues, cutting down every tree? The emotion called greed is often confused with the cold logic of a cancerous expansion strategy which is built into the very mechanism of society that depends on infinite growth. This is no longer something human. Culture and society are not the same thing as "human nature." Culture and society are mechanisms that are in conflict with the human being and force you to behave in a certain way (false needs, propaganda, physical/economic coercion, etc.)

I think i'm wasting my time.

Cynical = I don't trust anyone and I believe that everyone is out for their own good and not for the good of others.

Heretic = I was brought up catholic and at one time believed very much in god and all that BS until I reached my own age of reason and was able to deduce that all of christinity was wrong and broken. So I told Bishop Thompson that if god was real, he was a dickhead, but that I did not believe in such superstition anymore and it was at this time that he called me a heretic.

But over the last year and half, I have come to know that there truely is a god and his name is The Flying Spaggetti Monster. All hail his noodly appendages.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cynicalheretic', ' ')I don't trust anyone and I believe that everyone is out for their own good and not for the good of others

A very simplistic observation that misses the big picture.

Are people born with an ego? No, it is created through communication/interaction with others. Are people born thinking of everyone else as their competition? No, it is conditioned through public education, advertising etc.

The self has no essence that just pops into existence out of nothing. It has to be manufactured through institutions outside of it. (the nuclear family, religion, education, advertising etc.) You can't take any human being and find inside their head some "essence" that you can point to and say; "Now there is the problem. This is why the world is fucked up."

Most people are just cogs in a machine over which they have no control (that is where the problem is, not the emotions of an individual.)

I'll have to check it out! as for your other answers, tsk. I'm disillusioned. (of course the Beatles/Rolling Stones question was ripped off from a Saturday Night Live skit where Dana Carvey was an angel answering any question John Larroquette (recently deceased and in Heaven) could think of. He also asked "Is Hitler really dead?" and "what's the grossest thing I ever ate?" answers, "no but we have big plans for him" and "you don't want to know")
