This powerpoint presentation concerning EarthDay is one of the best.: http://coexploration.org/biodiversity/h ... cument.htm

Thanks Dr. Bradford for making it available to us all.

Link doesn't work? hmmmm, I clicked on it and the page came right up. Did you try pasting the url into your browser bar?

btw, the PP presentation was originally posted by Dr. Bradford on Yahoo's EnergyResources last year.

I'm sorry you couldn't link to the website because he gives some great slides of population peak, density limits, overshoot, food and energy, etc.

My understanding is this PP presentation was used in some of his university lectures.

Let me re-post the link and we'll see if this one works...

I think this Bradford report is a must read ..
A good intruduction to the concept of finite
resources and probable impacts to show to
family/friends ..

Here's another link to a pdf file of the presentation

It was a talk to a Rotary Club in Willits, California.

Today is Earth Day!

Time for a bump of this thread so new members have a chance to read Dr. Bradford's excellent PowerPoint presentation (linked in the original post.)

Also, thanks to Triffin for posting a link to the pdf file.

Thanks.

I found the powerpoint slides showing "overshoot" very interesting. A lot of posts here at PO talk about it, and this powerpoint show illustrated the principle nicely.

lol, good one Specop_007.

I shouted out the exact same thing yesterday, as I cut down a "trash" tree to make room for food-producing trees, even though no one was around. I still need to cut down a few more cedar around here to make room for more food producing trees.

I cut down one tree this year, but planted 12 better trees.

On our place there's usually a really beautiful elm tree lurking behind every big cedar.

Like you, we take out some of the cedars and put in fruit and nut trees....

Happy Earthday everyone.

I planted another pineapple crown today. That makes three.

I just felt like bumping up this oldie but goodie thread for the newcomers.

The link in the first post still works.

It can take around an hour to go through the presentation thoroughly, but well worth the read.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cbxer55', 'h')mmm, earthday.
Got to check off items on my list.
...

Yup, did my part.

I've told you once, but I'll repeat it, that your attitude and others like you, exemplifies a reason the world is f*c*ed up. Could care less, waste resources, etc. For someone who is unemployed, you listed some weird stuff to do to spend money. You must have a sugar mommy.

Foolish is what it is. And now everyone that reads this knows better.

Why do you have such an attitude? Please explain.

Deleted an unneccesary comment.
