Miami Cheese-grater eco-skyscraper

Check out the shiny wind turbines at the top of this new building plan, a virtual eco-city in one building!

Dr James Hansen recommends breeder reactors that convert nuclear 'waste' into 1000 years of clean energy for America, and can charge all our light vehicles and generate "Blue Crude" for heavy vehicles.

It seems clear that those turbines are mounted on all four sides of the building, and not able to pivot toward the wind. And instead of having just a few big turbines, with associated generators and furling mechanisms, this design uses many, for the sake of using many. They have found the least efficient way to deploy their resources.

This isn’t really green design. It is elements of green design used as decoration, like bits of gilded plaster.

It also reminds me of this building, referred to by some as the “House of Ten-Thousand Assholes”.

oh boy, another big condo developement in Florida.

Can't wait to see this thing half built and rusting on the sky line as the builder goes bankrupt.

Actually I'm being too optomistic. If this thing ever goes beyond the "hole in the ground" stage I'll be really surprised.

Florida has over 20,000 condo units beign built right now, and another 20,000 approved but not under construction.

The number of condo units sales per year in Florida (old and new) 1,200
(and that's the number at the peak of the bubble, so its probably half that by now)
Angry yet?

I hadn’t thought of it in terms of maximum output occurring during hurricanes when the grid is down anyhow.

It looks like Miami isn’t a good location for wind power of any kind. Wind Map of USA

Those wind turbines are window dressing. As pointed out, one might run a treadmill in one apartment. The layout is inefficient as the turbines will operate when wind is blowing in one direction only. You will find that if this building is actually built that the top few floors now shown as turbines will become condos. It's probably some scam to get planning.
