$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ayoob', '
')Anyway, while standing there waiting, I read about half of the newspaper. The two kids in front of me were joking around and hitting on the girls as they walked by, talking about little jobs they had and where they can go to get some good weed.
How good is this weed? And how do we get our hands on it?
Very interesting story. I say the only way people will change is if they are thinking about this and what the worst case scenario could be. They need to understand the cliff if we drive towards it at full-throttle (which we are). At least its a start by telling people like this kid. When we have economists making 6 figures who tell the world and the powers-that-be that someday we can pull into a gas station and fill up with "substitution" and "neoliberal economics," we need more people like you spreading the word.
I bring up peak oil with people whenever the time seems appropriate (I've yet to do so when getting a haircut, which I did today, and therefore missed a chance). But my father, a republican who voted for Kerry, and I talked about this over thanksgiving. He's like "Yeah, my generation had it good, yours and your kids are going to have a tough time." He knows what's going on.
Another friend, very conservative fundamentalist christian, voted for Bush this time, didn't buy into the whole oil peaking thing. I started laying out the arguments and, in time, he started admitting that "we may have a problem."
I think there are more out there who are willing to listen.
Ayoob will soon be a nationwide bus tour (biofueled) spreading the word.
