America flushing a giant toilet.

It will be a while before the stench of total corruption leaves the room.
What will arrive first? Peak Oil or the Second Coming? My money is now on the latter.

Maybe now they'll curb all the profligate government spending. Statistics show going back 40 years and more, that when the executive and legislative branches are controlled by different parties, that spending goes down. And maybe now we can put the stupid conspiracy theories about Diebold to rest.

Being a registered democrat, I'm happy. I really think that the icing on the cake would have been Rummy taken out in a straight jacket, that would have been funny.

The Dems will pull out of Iraq and start sifting through the mess. Hopefully America can recover from six years of idiocy. I'm not so sure though, so much money wasted...

They can't and they know it. The political class is in a bind. If we leave Iraq, then Iran takes the oil fields after a bloodbath and America is totally discredited. My guess is that now that Rummy is gone, more troops will be sent. The enemy is playing for keeps. America is asleep but will have to wake up. This isn't Viet Nam. As AgentR says, "Gentlemen, We have Resource Wars to fight". If the Democrats can get us out of Iraq, I will be shocked and amazed. It isn't going to happen.

Diebold conspiracy theories?
If people would have watched half of the videos on diebold there would be no doubts about the last few elections and how absolutely fraudulent they were....

Go smoke a joint and maybe the world will seem beautiful again...

If the Democrats get us out of Iraq, they will have created the very same situation that many Presidents have successfully prevented. Iran and Iraq becoming one country under the rule of a Mullah court.

And they complained about $3 gasoline. phffft'y.

Nothng is going to change. There is no mandate, no super majority. We will still have a corrupt bunch of idiots who cant get anything done. We will continue to wallow in Iraq and elsewhere.

Everyone who thinks this is some sort of dawn of a new age is sadly mistaken. The media makes it sound like David slew Goliath. All that happend was we now have an almost perfectly balanced House and Senate.

Simply a recipe for classic gridlock in government.

Yippee!

If anything, this may in the long term be a victory for the Republicans. If Peak Oil's shadow falls in this term (which, btw, is possible) the resulting fallout will likely be attributed to the Dems. The net result would be nobody (at least in the general public would trust them... for a very long time.

In the short term though, it's a situation of same difference.
