Whether in the hand of an 80 pound, girl geek, or a three hundred pound tough.....

Wins what, exactly?

Who wins the "broken nose" award? Obviously it's Mr. Ghetto there, because that's exactly what's going to happen if he fires that thing. A broken nose. And fingers...possibly his wrist...maybe the back of his skull if he's thrown off-balance...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Dreamtwister', 'W')ins what, exactly?

.

Yesterday was the tenth anniversary of me being robbed at gunpoint in back, of all places, the National Guard Armory at 55th & Cottage Grove on Chicago's south side. I was hanging large metal doors when two thugs--gangbangers--held me up and proceeded to clean out my substantial power tool cache. My Milwaukee cordless drill was no match for them.

If we ever get to the lawless society many here are calling for, I'm certain those thugs coming at me and mine and others, many with their sideways cocked weapons, are going to discover, the hard way, the real meaning behind proper technique.

OK, this thread makes a little more sense with some context attached. Thanks. I just thought it was a goofy picture of a wannabe gangbanger (everybody knows the *real* gangbangers use MACK-10's  ) trying to look tough. I didn't realize there was a backstory.

Well...neither one of them has a proper grip, but at least the girl isn't holding it upside down. She needs to get her left hand and her right thumb up higher on the gun though. She also has the trigger behind the joint of her index finger. It should be under the pad of the finger instead.

LA has reported a fall in fatal gang shootings since the advent of this upside-down firing position BTW...
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that grip was dubbed "John Woo" Style. As unpractical and fictional as "The Gun Kata" from the movies Equilibrium and Ultraviolet.

Good for selling DVDs, that's all.

Wonder if birdman has come up with a new version of the HoMeBoY NyTe-SyTeS for the upside down shooters?

it is called the "teacup" and it is a lousy way to hold a gun.... the non-dominant hand provides no assistance in controlling recoil.

Tamara Dobson, aka Cleopatra Jones, demonstrates proper form below. Now there is a lady. Makes me wonder if some of the Mad Maxs will be wearing rabbit fur and rayon halter tops instead of military fatigues.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'O')kay, criticize this for me to help me improve:

The grip looks good to me. You're doing what I see from a lot of first time shooters though. You're nervous about the gun, so you're unconciously leaning back trying to get away from it. It puts you off balance and it's a lousy posture for absorbing the recoil. Remember, you aren't shooting. You're fighting. The gun is just the weapon. The posture should be the same as for any other kind of fight. Feet spread about shoulder width. One slightly back of the other. Body weight balanced over the balls of your feet. Your posture should be comfortable and balanced and you should be able to easily move from it. Real gunfights don't happen in nice neat lanes like a range. In a real fight your target will be moving, and if you want to survive the fight, you need to be able to move too.

This is what it should look like: Link.

Not saying I'm nearly that good or that you should be able to empty a 15 round gun into the target in 3 seconds like he does, but notice the difference between how his stance and yours.

You forgot to mention her eyeshadow must be darkened, her nails painted black, her lipstick bright red, and her shoes pointed in case she misses her target and has to use her feet to kick the cad in the family jewels. If all else fails she can borrow my cordless 18 volt Milwaukee drill.
