I don't know if you guys are familiar with John Titor.
In short, Titor is a time traveller from 2036 back to November 2000 (around the time of the selections). He describes a future which in my opinion resembles a peak oil scenario. He doesn't say peak oil, but as he describes the circumstances in 2005, it parallels to what is being talked about in the 'preparation' board. He talks of a civil war which are Waco type incidents. People will have a choice to stay in the cities to receive protection, but they will have to give up civil liberties. Interestingly, he even mentions us going to war in Iraq over fake claims of nuclear weapons. I have been enjoying Titor for a while now. But after reading this board and coming to the realization of peak oil, I see too many similarities to ignore. Also Titor asks us to find out which industry contributes the most to political campaigns and to find out which companies really own the companies doing solar energy R&D.
As Titor describes 2046, it's a future with limited electricity. They are living in decentralized communities mostly powered by solar panels and windmills. But there is an Internet and of course time travel.

But the way of life in 2036 is the way we would envision a post peak era with limited petro resources. Cars are in limited use but most use bicycles and horses.
People have been trying to debunk Titor every since 2000. But no one has been able to conclusively. His time travel science is sound. IMO, he's not a time traveller, but perhaps someone with much insight into our future.
If nothing else, it's a fascinating read. I gurantee you will enjoy reading this. But please comment, I would love to get the opinions of other people.
