I am deeply sorry if I, 6'0" 160 lbs, have offended you.[/quote]
No offense at all. I'm just popping off trying to have some fun and lighten things up a little on this depression laden board, and maybe reliving some of the old glory days.
I mean 100 years from now folks will look back on this a 'Golden Age', and if they have access to what we are writing about here they will just be amazed at how good our lives are and how much we bitched about it.
Of course I must now give an example. About two weeks ago I got an ear infection and since I don’t have insurance I let it go a bit to long before I went to the emergency room. So by the time I decided to go to the ER it was pretty bad. Well I owe this hospital a considerable sum ( I mean we’re talking high 5 figures here) but was I refused help. No. I was taken care of by an excellent doctor who understood I didn't have insurance so he gave me the antibiotics I was going to need.
Then, a few days later, I went to the local health clinic and saw a nurse practitioner who checked my ear and provided me with another course of antibiotics that completely cleared up the infection. All for the grand sum of $15.45. A hundred years ago, or perhaps a hundred years from now, I would have almost certainly died from that infection.
Now I know there are folks on here who will be thinking “Well if he couldn’t pay he should of just died and reduce the excess population” (where is Jack when we need him anyway). But I thank my Gods we live in a time when a simple infection isn’t a killer like infections have been throughout the rest of human existence.
Unlike many on this board I really can’t complain about the life I have lived. I have traveled far, I have seen much. I have partied with hot young ladies on the beaches of California, and I have prayed at the graves of my long dead ancestors. I have made a lot of money, and I had a lot of fun spending it all. I’ve spent a lot of time living in the fast lane, and I’ve spent some time behind some jailhouse bars.
But now I’m just a poor, old broken down guy who is trying to do the best he can for his wife and family.
By Woden’s beard folks. If your young and unattached get out there and have a good time. Life is short and we all have the privilege of living in a time and place that may very well be the zenith of human existence. If your sick of where you live and the job you have grab a handful of Greyhound and get the hell out of there. Drive through town with all the window’s in your truck rolled down blasting out classic rock (hey, if the rappers can do it why can’t I). Just don’t be afraid to take chances, or you could find yourself nearing the end of the road without ever enjoying the ride.
Sorry about going on and on. The new pain meds and muscle relaxers are starting to kick in and I’m feeling pretty good. Now all I need is a shot of Gray Goose and a pipe of good smoke and I’ll be all set.
