When things obviously are gong downhill badly, and your loved one or parent looses his job. Everything starts getting worse are you going to the people that just blew you off as crazy and say "I told you so, i told you this was going to happen, hahaha." cause you were correct, and they remained ignorant and even after the fact they lose there job, i betcha my family will still be like we are just going through a little bit of a rough time, it will be over soon. They will still live in denial, even if they have trouble finding food, im still not sure if its gonna get that bad, i really hope our goverment can use brains to atleast make sure the population has food atleast in america, (Trust me we do if we use the remaining resources right) and general medical(not sure about this one though) on the downslope of oil production.

I think a better response, in such a crisis would be, "I've got a spare bedroom, if it gets bad, you know where you and your kid can be safe."

It is not necessary that they believe in PO or not; its not a religion. If you feel the need to say anything at all about it, do it in a self deprecating mode of speech, like, "Aren't you glad I wasn't being a paranoid lunatic after all?"

The best thing is just to not say anything at all about it, before or after. Just be "surprisingly" prepared to provide modest food and shelter to family members in need.
