I witness oil price dropping day after day... I remember, 1 year ago, when i thought oil would reach 100$ for winter.
Now, it's 66,25$ on 321energy, world economy seems invincible, and even me is thinking about buying a car!

Of course, all this is perhabs (i should say certainly) just an anomaly in the long term trend.
While we just watching oil, i'm intrigued by copper and uranium, getting higher and higher, but also food (especially fish in fact) and electricity bill.

But wait, what about OPEC? How they deal with those prices? Watch this: Link

From this article, i understand that OPEC is satisfied but in the same time is worried by this 10$ drop in a month. If prices are staying as "low" (is low the appropriate word for poor countries btw?), it will lead to a stronger growth, well, a stronger demand!

When US oil production peaked in the lower 48 back in the early 70s, the price of gasoline fell significantly. I see the latest drop in prices as just an indication that oil has, indeed, peaked globally.

On the other hand, being a child of the consumer age, I am strangely compelled to now stop riding the bus and instead go buy myself a Humvee for my daily commute.

Some of you will have seen my recent "HawkMan" diatribes in other threads, as well as my sig. I'm doing a bit of "tongue in cheek" teasing of course, but I'm also meaning to imply something else.

I'm trying to illuminate a central component of our worldview & assumptions about our place in it.

It really matters very little which belief system you examine... at the very core of almost every ideology, there is a common idea.

Whatever else they do, man's belief systems have concentrated the wealth of our planet for a tiny group, at the expense of the exploited billions...

I always want to rip my hair out when I see that "end world poverty" campain. It just proves that most people have no idea what we do to have this lifestyle, how were raping the earth for everything its got to maintain it for even a small fraction of the population.

I suspect as oil production declines people will do more and more environmentally destructive things in an attempt to maintain there lifestyle until most of the world is not fit for living. Extinction of the human race in say, hmmm, 10-20k years. I guess there is a chance that another intelligent race will rise again in 200-300 million years but a lot of things would have to go right.

I wonder if mabey there are a lot of planets with life on it only a few of those develop intelligent life and out of those only few can manage thier resources well enouph to colinize areas outside thier own ecosystem and survive past the death of the planet (for reasons other that resource depletion ie death of the sun). I would see we have failed to manage our resources and will become extinct for that reason, heres hoping an intelligent race somewhere were a little smarter than us.

That test in your sig is a bit dishonest, EndDays, because getting to heaven in the Christian doctrine has absolutely nothing to do with being good. "Goodness" doesn't even begin to enter the picture at any point as a criteria for admittance.

Not making it to heaven (and all it entails) is decidedly a punishment for not being Christian™.

A much more honest, direct, and concise approach would have been to simply ask if the person was Christian™ enough to go to heaven. Assuming it's even possible, that is.
