Well folks, I live in the south of Ireland 400m from the sea and I'm offering house swaps to people on this site because I want to see more of the world while I can.

Sounds like a nice place. Why do you want to move ?

Is this some kind of insurance scam? I come back to my house after too much Guiness and all the leprechauns one can eat and find that Madpaddy re-insured it then burnt it down....

Hi Madpaddy,

You are welcome to visit where I live. I don't know if I could ever make it your way, but I own a small farm 20 minutes from where I live. We have a small house on it, quite livable. You are welcome to stay there for free if you would like to visit here sometime. Its in Arkansas, which is the center of the U.S. when you look at a map of the states, home of Wal-Mart. Not too interesting a place, but you're certainly welcome. PM me if you are interested and need more info.

A house swap is a cheap way of seeing another country for a number of weeks.

By the way I am in Ireland also Dublin.

I would not like so internet weirdo linving in my house however.

Rambo,

I Believe Madpaddy's nice idea is to have two (2) internet wierdo's TRADE houses for a short period of time.

If I ever go to Ireland MP I'll look you up for some tea.

I played golf one time at the Cork Municipal Golf course I didn't have the bucks to play the big courses in Ireland or the skill for that matter.

I am living in a van down by the river and by river I mean more of a open sewer so I would gladly trade up to actually stay in house. Of course I will need gas money to the airport and plane ticket. So are you going to wire me the scratch or what?

MP. we have a primitive place you can live in... a 19' trailer, tree house, etc. A swap may be really interesting to my wife and I.

Check our place out: http://www.dumarsengraving.com/landsale

PM me if you want to discuss it further.

That's a great idea MP. But wouldn't it be easier to visit other country and stay in someone's house in exchange of having someone visit you and stay in your house? The idea of exchanging houses with a stranger met over the internet may not be appealing to everyone. Neither is it safe for you! While they might not be dangerous, they might not take good care of your house. Isn't that too risky?

Maybe I'm not remembering right, but I recall you saying that you had met many Arabs. Have you ever been to Lebanon?

Hi Miki,

I agree that house sharing is probably a better idea than house swapping.

You recall right. I spent 6 months in Lebanon in 1998 and 7 months in 2000. I served in with the Irish Army in the Tibnin area of South Lebanon. I have very good memories of my time there and met many great people. It was tragic to see the recent destruction especially as such huge efforts had gone into rebuilding the infrastructure after the Israeli retreat in 2000. Unfortunately, it is easy to imagine this scenario being repeated again and again.
