More peak oil myth....

I always like to look at both sides of an argument to get a better understanding of any situation. I know that peak oil myth has been discussed before, but those threads are 50, 60 or 70 pages long. So I thought I would bring it up again.

Is their more oil than we think ? My personal opinion is that 2006 is the year oil peaks. Do these peak oil myth folks actually have any credible arguments or are they just blowing hot air ?

I think its not hot air. More like a hydrogen balloon about to blow up.

More and more, I'm agreeing with you. My personal view of timing WAS 2008 (I know, makes very little difference) but it's increasingly looking like peak is now.

I think if prices had gone up from hurricanes this year, we might have had enough demand destruction to push it back a few years.

The prices coming down, yeah, that moves my estimate up a bit. Damn.... :(

Recent oil market developments just don't seem to square with a 2006 peak, let alone a Thanksgiving, 2005 peak. Didn't ASPO have a 2009 date?

I still think peak oil is 2006, the prices a few months ago were very high and now they are dropping a little, that is typical of peak. If your pumping at full capaicity sometimes you pump less than you need (high price) or you pump more than you need (low price), and lets not forget that prices dropped when Israel declared a ceasefire. War will always raise the price beyond the norm. Price will fluctaute a little, but my prediction is that in 2007 prices will be $100 a barrel, and then swing upwards of another $50 to $75 per year.

Then again, I am no expert.

We're seeing gas under $3 here in San Diego for the first time in quite a while. Forecasts are for it to go way down in the coming months.

The Bumpy plateau c'est non?
Was a long and dark December
When the banks became cathedrals
And the fog
Became God
