Here's some of that 60s Mythology:

Easy Rider Soundtrack Lyrics
Artist: Steppenwolf
Song: The Pusher

You know I've smoked a lot of grass
O' Lord, I've popped a lot of pills
But I never touched nothin'
That my spirit could kill
You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round
With tombstones in their eyes
But the pusher don't care
Ah, if you live or if you die

God damn, The Pusher
God damn, I say The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man

You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With the love grass in his hand
Oh but the pusher is a monster
Good God, he's not a natural man
The dealer for a nickel
Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah, but the pusher ruin your body
Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream

God damn, The Pusher
God damn, God damn the Pusher
I said God damn, God, God damn The Pusher man

Well, now if I were the president of this land
You know, I'd declare total war on The Pusher man
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd run
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun

God damn The Pusher
Gad damn The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man

There's a lot of men pushing a wide variety of things very seldom is it a good thing. You ever hear the blind melon version of that song?

Goddamn that bible-pushin man
smoke 2 joints in the mornin'/smoke 2 joints at night
smoke 2 joints in the afternoon it makes me feel alright
I smoke 2 joints in time of peace and 2 in time of war
I smoke 2 joints before I smoke 2 joints and then I smoke 2 more - sublime

They finally put Sudafed, etc. behind the counter out here and I think I read that drug related crime was down 40% already.

Pfizer et al don’t give all that money to the politicians out of generosity.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

I saw a stat in the paper that 48% of people booked into the local jail had meth in them. Interesting thought, pops, Steppenwolf could have been singing about pfizer then.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('rexxz', 'Y')ou're very correct about there not being any money in music. I am only 18 myself, and I have opted for a different route, but one that will allow me to remain close to what I love to do; audio engineering. If your son enjoys law enforcement, encourage him to follow that path, but at the same time let him know that it is completely possible for him to maintain a musicle career while holding another job. Hell, I'd wager that 99% of the bands I listen to are required to have seperate jobs from their musical ones to make a living. In fact, it is more common than not for it to be this way.

I suppose my point is, he can do both if he really wants :D
Funny you should say that, he said last night that maybe he'll be a cop/musician. And maybe he'll keep my neck from being jackbooted too!

Well even though steppenwolf was one of my favorites "riding low" one of my fav tunes btw .....I still understand that - Guns dont kill people - class???? - people kill people

and they do it alot...especially in the U.S.

and

Chemicals do not kill people - people kill themselves with chemicals.

Must be some sort of deficiency like when dogs eat grass etc etc.

I cannot explain why some monkeys cannot resist - I know plenty of them and sadly have to distance myself and my family from them and all that jazz yet still there is truth...............they choose.

There needs to be a place where these monkeys can go and kill themselves on the cheap or otherwise figure their damn problems out and figure out wether they want to be a part of non dope society or not...... little crack clinics on every corner - wont need them for long - soon the problem will be mainly over..............you know what I am talking about - they seem as if they do not care about anything........a form of insanity maybe an illness and a disease for sure....but criminal???

Yes the truth...............sitting silently waiting to be discovered each in its own way and in its own time.

They choose - we choose - apparently it must be so - some of us gotta stay and some of us gotta go!!!
With alittle music that might sound good but even without music its still the truth.

I lost a good friend over the new year - he was 33 - he died not because he was doing the drug but because he sold the drug and in order to get his prescription he must pass a test to see if he actually takes the drug ....all the while he was addicted to another drug and on the night before his appointment he was high on both.
He never made it to his appointment - we will miss him - he chose.
Merck, pfizer to the thugs on the corner, the cops chasing them to the lawmakers on capitol hill that pass laws which only make the price go up are all a part of it - making it easier to kill yourself or otherwise toss your life away.
Its business and business is good!

"They are trying to build a prison - for you and me - oh baby you and me" system of a down - check em out ole man!! ;-)

These kids actually make protesting fun again!! ;-)

Imagine mankind saying that a plant is evil or something to that effect and thats basically what we are doing.

This mushroom is the devil!!

Its an unjust and simply wrong thing for our officers to be doing with their valueable time and I do not want my sons or daughters to have anything to do with this gross infringement upon our rights now or post peak.

Yes I know the little ole ladies will still need to get across the street...I feel for them I really do - there will be way less cars so they should fair ok if they made it as far as the corner;-)

Better check into a so called sustainable community with private rent a cops pretty soon there granny ;-)

So no its not a good choice and no the guy who deals/pushes is not the devil - he is neither the supply nor the demand but the Market!

ok two last words/names - Mike ruppert !!!!! ;-)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('max_power29', 'I') don't know about california, but cops in oregon are just parasites. All they do now is harass motorists and collect traffic fines. They can't be bothered with anything else. They make their living by stealing from the rest of society with a badge and gun (taxes and fines) If I were to do the same thing (which i wouldn't) I'd get convicted of numerous felonies. Cops get to do it every day with the blessing of the government. After all they are the ultimately the last step in tax collection if the government can not collect.

They should all be ashamed of themselves....it is not honorable at all.

It is my hope that peak oil or even the financial bankruptcy of this country alone without peak oil will mark the end of wide spread professional police. Policing should be volunteer work by members of the community. Dare I choose the word militia?

I thought San Diego is already on the verge of bankruptcy. I Guarantee if your son gets hired he will either go to traffic duty stealing from motorists with a badge and a gun or vice, stealing from hard working hookers with a badge and a gun. There is not enough resources for real productive police work any more.

Perhaps your son can join the Feds and help to usher in the glorious police state. better to be in the police than a civilian in the police state that is currently emerging. Maybe as family he'll even be able to protect your neck from getting jackbooted when tshtf.

Might I recommend "Not breaking the law for 300 Alex".

I know, I know. Such profound wisdom I have shared with you.....Dont break the laws and cops wont fine you.
Be careful who you share this deep wisdom with, some people cannot handle such information.

Yeah easier said than done, they get around this obvious tactic by making so many laws that you can't not break them. That's how the police state works. EVERYONE is breaking some law right now, the motorists and the prostitutes are just the easiest to pinch money from. The cops are no better than the mafia. God forbid they go out and catch real criminals and do investigations. You know what they say around here when you call for service? "WE DON"T HAVE THE MAN POWER" and I see armies of them sitting at the side of the road pointing laser and radar guns every day and night.

In the town of Coburg, Oregon where the entire population of the town are employed as traffic cops with quotas, a buddy of mine had one of those coburg bastards pull out a ruler and measure the distance from his tailpipe to the ground, it was like an inch to short so he got a ticket. It was a normal car it wasn't modified or anything!

Also, I cant ever remember anybody ever getting to vote on things like the speed limit and prostitution in this so called democracy. Why do they have to make the speed limit at least 10 miles an hour lower than everybody actually drives? Its for money, They could give a rats ass about the safety of the taxpayers.

The only true democracy existed 2500 years ago and it lasted approx. 250 years.

We vote for people who we hope will vote on issues like we would have.

A middle man indeed - a half democracy.

So Pen.
I know that you understand history and that the law is generally only the will of tyrants who are generally well aligned with the priest and the merchant yes?

some good things may have come of it yet I think it is getting easier and easier to see just how much bad becomes of it.

Does your son understand PO?

Maybe it is time that you come to grips with it?
Dont just stand here in awe of it - do something !!!

All this proof and you wait?
How much more do you need besides actual pieces of the sky falling on your head?

It still amazes me that someone who has been exposed to PO like you have can honestly say that you are uncertain about it....

Indecision clouds your vision man.

ok ok ok heres a bright spot then - yeah tell him to become a cop - that way maybe he will not get drafted into resource wars.

happy now?

I have talked about it with my kids. They know. But I haven't pressed it as a "we're all screwed" sort of thing. It isn't indecision. If the human race has boxed itself into a corner, then there isn't much I can do about it, y'know? What would you do if you were a self-aware yeast cell in a vat of grape juice?

There is plenty you can do to lessen the ramifications of peakoil on a personal level and there are plenty of people doing something about it my group included.

It is not easy and there is no clear cut path.

Perhaps cumulatively we will have an effect - perhaps all we will be doing is setting good examples for future generations.

I am a phone man - splicer/technician - I also became a business man for a few years and now with peakoil and global warming I feed off of destinations that both tourist and hurricanes seem to enjoy - like a parasite - destinations that our government seems to insist remain as such.

This will end one day - soon they will not be able to stop the water and the gold/energy spent to constantly repair these places will be gone.

I started at a pizza shop - quite a few pizza shops later a factory - then a stint in HVAC - then a high paying tech job - then a business - now back to tech and within a few months/years minus major changes caused by GW I will be an organic farmer.

We must strive to understand that our current situation is only temporary, that change is inevitable and that powerdown and a movement toward sustainability is and always was THE WAY.

Do nothing and support the PTB?
Thats exactly what they want.

We will grow food for ourselves and for the local community in a sustainable way.
We will strive to replace our dependence on fossil fuels with human power, solar, micro, wind and other ways.
We will relearn what we as a species have almost forgotten and otherwise stop killing the planet and or giving our governments a reason to do so.

We will learn to live with alot less and to enjoy the finer and simpler things in life.

This seems noble enough.

You were saying?

I started out as a mud logger in the oil patch and now I'm at a "pizza shop" :) It might make another year if we're lucky, then I'll have the sub teaching thing to rely on. That should last, knock on wood. But if the world comes crashing down, then it'll be drinking water from the roots of Eucalyptus trees and eating earthworms and dandelions and whatever else I can keep down.

I'm not sure of what to make of this kind of projection. Good luck to you and all of you who are farming. It's a good thing. What have TPTB got to do with it? If it all comes crashing down, there won't be any "powers". If, on the other hand, it keeps hobbling along, TPTB will confiscate your little farm and try to regiment everybody. Just like oowolf said, it's lose/lose however you slice it.

That was awsome when the cops killed themselves, looted, and fled from New Orleans. We got to see just how tough they were. Then the law enforcement that moved in did a great disservice to our country by disarming all the law abiding citizens. We got to see their true colors.
