You'll have to wait 'till the US runs out of illegal aliens who are ready to sign on the dotted line in exchange for a shot at citizenship.

One could argue that Mexico may provide our cannon fodder for a while.

Once again, you could argue that this is all part of the plan, couldn't you? Immigrants fill those entry-level jobs, making it tougher for all young folks, while also joining up in exchange for citizenship.

PNAC says their objective is to have the U.S. dominate the world militarily. It's right there in their mission statement. How can you do that without a steady supply of volunteers?

I wouldn't worry about the draft being re-instated. That could cause such fear and loathing among the populace that the Neocons could find themselves broomed right out of power. Better to continue on the present path, undermining life for young Americans at every turn, giving them as few options as possible.

It's working well for the Neocons so far, and as they fine-tune the plan, we can expect it to only work better and better for them.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Doly', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mekrob', 'I')f we're really going to be instituted a national draft in which it may be your priority to dodge it, then don't you think we would have degraded into a pretty shitty political and economic state that the government would probably just mass slaughter all of the people who are ill (let's call them the 'germ terrorists')?

A national draft looks slightly more likely than wholesale killing of all sick people. :-D

I remember reading something some months ago that our only requirement when we get contacted for a draft is to report to the draft office. We don't have to recite the oath or agree to do anything else.

I've read about people who have done this. They were roughed up, questioned, and coerced, but eventually kicked out. The people who were arrested and given a prison sentence were the ones who never reported to the office.

You guys think that they are going to plug up this little loophole for the next draft? All I know is that I will not be saying any oaths, and I'll be putting up a hell of a fuss if they try to take me. I don't know if I'll be worth the trouble to draft.

Link to CNN story on Rangell's draft bill:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/07/rangel.draft/

Rangell is a black NY democrat who wants the whites to do their fair share of the lifting in this mideast war so that it will stop. It is like in Vietnam. Minorities are doing a disproportionate share due to less job opportunities. Remember 2,2 million people are in jail, half of them black. 40 years ago it was only 200,000 people in jail.(No I am not black or generally left wing but I was shocked to learn how bad the situation really is) Link on prison populations:

http://www.socialistaction.org/news/199904/prison.html

The USA population has not doubled but the prison population has gone up ten fold. this is a revolving door mechanism to create jobs in rural areas for whites(where prisons are) and keep blacks in urban areas down(once you have a prison record you can`t vote and getting a job is damned hard).

Best of all is to start a war and use blacks and poor hispancis as cannon fodder. A draft would be the best way to stop the war because senators kids would have to go fight-let the Bush twins put on fatigues and go to Baghdad then the war wouldn't last past next Sunday.

I think they should pass the draft. If my oldest brother who is super conservative red neck religious conservative type with big cars living in the suburbs saw that his 17 year old kid would have to go fight next week in Baghdad he and 20 million others like him would get mad as hell and kick political ass.

Only problem is it is not likely to happen. The American public and TPTB want as few complications as possible. 10% of US soldiers in Iraq are mercenaries from Colombia, Central America and such. I remember in history of Rome that they just kept using more and more foreign troops to protect their borders until they got taken over by these foreign troops. Their own people were too lazy or already all killed in war to do anymore fighting. I think if anyone is pro-war they should be willing to go personally and take the risks or send their kids. Otherwise they are a hypocrite. Bush is a coward. He never went to Vietnam. He avoided it. It seems American life is based now on borrowing money to get everything and not producing our own goods and not even fighting our own wars. We use poor people from within the country and poor mercenaries from abroad to prosecute a policy against other poor bastards just to distract attention from our own failed policy. The original Anglo population of USA fought themselves against their own people from "the old country(British)" to obtain freedom. It seems this idealism is gone. The upper class(2% with 50% of money) is like in Old Europe in old days, corrupt and rich without conscience.

I am personally glad we don't have a draft, and I don't want us to have a draft. Furthermore(thankfully) a draft won't be issued, due to the political maelstorm that would cause.

Ontop of that, if we had a draft, I am almost certain that the troops we are sending over there would have even less benefits, seeing as how why should there be incentives to join to the military, when the government can get you for free?

So what would happen is the black population, who chooses the military because it is one of the few options they have to get a better life, would lose that option.

Ultimately, it would hurt blacks more than anyone else.

I personally think that this senator is introducing the draft bill to scare up the populace against Bush. The Democrats can use the draft bill to say, "Look, the draft is being introduced into congress, Bush wants to take you and your kids, and use them as cannon fodder!", even though the Democrats are the ones introducing the bill.

The explanation for the Bill is there, to minimize any political fallout on the Democrats side, if anyone looks into the matter with much thought.

Although I do think the Upper Class wants to use the lower class as canon fodder so they can live in their McMansions, and drive their mobile fortresses around.
