Quick daily oil stats?

Unread postby Synergist » Sat 03 Jun 2006, 00:17:19

As I recall, current daily oil production is something on the order of 88 million barrels of day.

What I'm looking for is a) the exact daily total; b) Iraq's current contribution to that total (I believe it's 1.5 million on a good day), Iraq's contribution during the sanctions regime, and Iraq's contribution (optimal) prior to the first Gulf War.

Reason being I am confronted with an argument elsewhere that the "reason oil is high is because of Iraq" as if that is the only thing to do with it.

It's obviously not helping, but at a glance it's probably no more than a few percentage points of the problem.

Right on. Iraq is a small part of the problem. Even "small" parts of the problem in this case are rather large. Iraq's oil system is totally screwed through lack of investment during the past thirty years.

I'm sorry I don't info on the specific numbers. However, to help with your argument here are many reaosns why oil prices are high:

Iran
Iran vis-à-vis Isreal
Iran vis-à-vis the US
China
The American Public
PO - latent
and on...
