US not in good shape

Interesting little comment:

"According to the U.S. Treasury Department, America's first 42 Presidents, from George Washington (1789) to Bill Clinton (2000), borrowed a combined total of $1.01 trillion from foreign governments and financial institutions. From 2000 to 2006, the Bush White House has borrowed $1.05 trillion alone. Yes, that means we have borrowed in the last 5 years what we had previously borrowed in the first 211 years of our country."

Well, this doesn't take into account other issues such as personal debt, corp debt, M3, interest...

Geezzzz... it kind of makes you think... Bush did a few business bankrupties, so now he has brought this country wide...

So I ask, why did Bush take such a risk? I think because Peak Oil, we are going for broke here...

I think it was Mike Rivero who wrote "The last official act of any government is the looting of the nation."

These guys are conducting a corporate plunder unequalled in history. And, the best part for them is they get out with all the loot, leave someone else with the bill and cleanup, and get to retire fat and happy on their new beachfront, courtesy of global warming.

It would be to easy to say stupidity, but I don't think that's the case.

I still can't find any reason why the US government is acting like it is acting. There must be a reasonable agenda, one that would be to scary to tell the average Joe ...

Record profits, record looting, record plundering can all be linked to record numbers of people.

While people believe otherwise, there is no future prosperity from which anything significant can be borrowed anymore.

I believe you need to consider that there is no "reason" per se.
The hard facts are that the US is controlled by a group of chickhawk, privileged, heartless cowards.
They have all done their best to avoid service, none has known hardship and have no connection to the general public except for a feeling of contempt.
There is no higher purpose to their agenda. They are craven, soulless monsters.

A painting by Goya called "Saturn Devouring His Children" is one of the most succinct means of expressing what your country has become.
A madness has taken possession of your country and it is eating your children.

Zbignew Zingh explores just this very subject in his article Desperado Days. (Scroll down at the link to the article). His idea is that our leaders at the top know at least as much about Peak Oil as any of us and act desperately because they do not think we have a future. Sobering stuff.

Intriguing article - well worth a read.

Just as a random comment which supports the idea that Government is all seeing - I heard a politician on UK radio say that when in power he couldn't believe how many "startling & secret memos" crossed his desk and how little the public knew about them.
Technology will save us!
