$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')ony Soprano is my worst nightmare. The idea of the guy walking past me, let alone touching me, makes me wince. He is the ape, the buffoon, the immoral thug, the no class Cretin, that media is normalizing to help explain the political thuguocracy the US is descending into.
Now that was a good post.
But I think you missed the point of Tony's remark.
This classless thug makes an important observation. In his crude, lowlife kinda way, he says that our culture has disposed of the baby, along with the bathwater.
We have not only abandoned the less desirable parts of masculinity... but the good parts along with em.
And kudos to David Chase and company for creating such an insightful piece of television. When we can humanize the worst among us, I believe we become more human ourselves.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.
