$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mabz', '
')It does lead to what will happen to sport post PO and even though a lot of people on this forum may not care about sport with more pressing topics to consider, it should be interesting.

For the rich maybe they will bring back fox hunting (to keep them away from chickens :twisted: )...also shooting peasants (?sp). For the poor there will be things like walking into town. With lots of physical work sports will not be too important, and after a day's work sitting in the local pub having a pint of home-brew with the other farmer labourers would be a good way to spend the time
We should teach our children the 4-Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rejoice.

You are right about the nonsence of upgraded facilitates, personal trainers and attendants in kids sport. Weve just started seeing personal trainers here for school kids hired by mad parents. Another madness here is the local council wanting to plow millions into new and upgraded facilities, even when it is pointed out to them that hardly anyone is using the existing facilites. Thats all about building ivory towers and scoffing the wine and cheese at the opening though not any altruistic outcomes.

I don't know how to quote yet but hunting sports will definitly be back. Your forgot falconry and ratting.

There are some 'sports' we should eliminate at all levels, but I would like to see some added. After all, the kids do need exercise and social interaction. How about:

--Amateur Tree Planting (ATP)

--North American Seasonal Crop Attendants in Rotation (NASCAR)

--Professional Tomato Pickers League (PTPL)

Heck I'm sure there are plenty of others.

There is a lot of waste, always has been. Nascar is nothing. Do you even want to know how much the U.S. military spends on fuel annually? We have had world wars, gigantic 16 cylinder gas hog Cadillacs, monsterous cruise ships and tankers the size of a small island used to lug the black juice from shore to shore, jet toys for movie stars and rockets to send robots to other planets to play in the dirt. We know no bounds when it comes to waste. All we know is that in the tiniest small span of about a century, we have used up a billion years worth of fossil fuels. Yea, we're ALL about as smart as your average Nascar fan. :cry:

I agree 100 percent. When I sit back and really think about it, I am ashamed of all the energy I foolishly used.

I have been lurking for months and this is my first post. I have often wondered about the wanton waste of Nascar. In response to the persons post about being ashamed at how much energy they wasted i feel the same way. I am a high school teacher in Orlando Florida and the power bill for our school is 575,000 dollars a year. When i heard that i almost fell out of my chair. i feel like turning my lights off at home to conserve energy is a joke when you look at numbers like that!
