A local business classified mag w/gas stations for sale ads

PAGES AND PAGES of gas stations for sale. Not just independants, either. Name brand stations like "Shell", "Petro Canada" and "Esso".
And every single one of them..."Priced to move".
The whole of human history is a refutation by experiment of the concept of "moral world order". - Friedrich Nietzsche

Yes, apparently this has been happening in the UK also. They've been
losing hundreds of gas stations (forecourts) per year since 2000.

I thought I read this after following a link off LATOC, but I couldn't find
it. Anyway, the 'BreakingNews' section off LATOC has been bugging lately,
stuffed full of gloom and doom news. I luv it:

From what I understand, the gas stations still make money on the gas, it's just that people don't come inside anymore. They sell gas just to get you to stop and do some impulse buying of coffee, soda, beer, chips, etc., and that's of course their bread and butter. Since the gas bill is a lot more now, more people are resisting the urge to venture inside.

I refuse to shop at the places that force you to go inside - waiting in a line for people buying lottery tickets is really annoying. I've noticed that more stations are doing this in my area, even though they have the credit card access outside, they have turned it off and make you go inside.

After seeing what they are paying at the pump it is amazng that people buy anything inside . I was told by someone I know that it takes $70.00 to fill his truck.
It is a dying business .

Alot more are probably going to move to automated gas stations. Alot less space, no employees. Just increase the price a little, but I guess they would be faster.
