Pics from this weekends competition

Unread postby Specop_007 » Sun 16 Apr 2006, 20:56:28

Had another marksman competition. Good times, I live for the range and range day is on the weekend.

First off, there is a guy with a homemade gun. He built it from a parts kit but modified the hell out of it to make it a short firearm. Its classified as a pistol, but is too big to honestly be used as one.
Heres a video of me running a mag through it. It aint very practical, but goddamn its alot of fun.
Click

It was a bit stereotypical, we had 2 newcomers this weekend. 2 Russians. These guys spoke fluent Russian and English pretty good, so I'm thinking their first timers to the US of A. There was a short skinny guy named Ivan and a brick shithouse of a monster named Andre. Ivan had an SKS, nothing fancy just a good gun.
Andre had something entirely different. Andre was packin a S&W 500 Magnum. This thing is the definition of "hand cannon". Its HUUUGE. To give you an idea heres a picture of a .44 Mag, .500 Mag and .45 Colt. A 44 is no small beast, but the thing is dwarfed by the 500.
Click

Anyways, in Andres hand it look like a normal, although somewhat large, pistol. Then I shot it.....The thing is near as big as my forearm.
Andre doin his thing
Me with the same pistol

Otherwise, it was just another great day for a shoot.
The rest of the pictures are here under the 4-15 album

Tried to watch them Spec but couldn't find a program to play them, neither Qucktime nor VLC would give me a picture.

One nice thing about Oregon is year-round shooting weather. I've been hitting the range every Thursday and Sunday all winter. We have a great gun club just 3 miles from home, so I can take a long lunch hour on Thursdays and get in an hour of shooting.

Busy loading 4000 rounds of Lake City, that should keep me busy for a while 8)

BTW, have you seen this Better Than 911. Haven't laughed that hard in ages.

Damn! Up here in Canuckistan all you see at most gun clubs are shotguns and more shotguns, trap, skeet and sporting clays mostly. At a gun club I used to shoot at we had a little used rifle range, mostly ofr sighting and showed up one Sunday to find someone put a mess of "unauthorized" holes through 1/4 inch steel plate, nobody ever did own up because some of the members were freaking out about it. Sure is different down there! Nice pics!

What's even funnier is if you play Spec_op's movie with the 911 soundtrack in the background!

Spec, you look exactly like I thought you would: a scrappy, yet thinner version of Tim McVeigh.

Funny. I picture Specop about 10 years older. I guess it must have been the "I'm so tough with daddy's AR pictures from a year ago.

Looks like somebody should tell your Russian friend that putting your thumb on the end of the muzzle does not constitute keeping the gun pointed in a safe direction: http://www.fusionwaste.com/KDSC/display ... m=2&pos=66

Good pictures spec! What's the story behind the funky blue AR?

We used to use ammonium nitrate pellets mixed with the bermuda grass at the ranch all the time to stop soil erosion. Well no more.

The good news is that this mule a natural source of 100% organic fertilizer. In other words- some say I'm full of shit. I say I'm full of vital ingredients that make for the ripest red tomatoes.

That all well and good when you can bring the nitrogen home from the grocery store. The smart money in the long run though has to be on nitrogen-fixing legumes. Got inoculants?

We use to have peanuts and soybeans growing in the cow pastures over 25 years ago. I imagine it would not be hard to start them back up in a pinch.

The bolt is locked back and the mag is empty so no worries. You'll see in some pictures I have an AR resting on my foot as I chit chat.....

The blue AR? I dunno, he wanted to do something different so built a blue AR.
