Heh, saw that awhile ago. They need to scrap the war on drugs and start a war on idiocy. Too funny how the class gets spooked when he wants to handle the rifle!

SpecOP, is it true you are not supposed to dry fire like that or was he just loading one from the magazine? I only have experience with shotguns and rifles.

I read about that happening, never knew it was videotaped, haha
I'm not a gun expert, but it seems a little strange to me how that happened... If he cocked the gun, then put a loaded mag in it, he could fire an empty, and then fire an actual bullet. But it looked like he cocked it with the magazine in, showed it to someone else for confirmation that it was empty, and then fired a round into his leg... So yeah, I guess we'll have to hear from on of the gun nuts on this one :P

I've seen that.
Guy was just a careless dumbass, no other words for it. Thats what happens when you get careless.
Definately worth a chuckle though. "I'm the only one qualified"...BAM!

Dry firing wont hurt on current production pistols. Older ones that dont have modern steel might have a problem. My CZ-52 for example your not supposed to dry fire as it may break the firing pin. Not a huge problem, I can buy another one.
But for the most part, it wont hurt to dry fire and it fact dry firing is a good way to practice when your sitting around the house and bored.

His fatal mistake was not dropping the magazine first to clear the pistol. You will notice he pulls the slide back first and looks in the chamber. The problem is, when he released the slide it put a round from the magazine in the chamber - now its loaded. His next problem was putting his finger on the trigger.

So, if you aren't familiar with magazine fed pistols, clear in these steps:

(1) Drop magazine;
(2) Inspect chamber by locking slide to rear,
(3) release slide;
(4) never put your finger on the trigger of any weapon unless actuall aiming at a target and firing.
(5) As you can see, if someone hands you a weapon, you must clear it, even if you just saw the guy clear it before passing it to you, bc, the dumbass might not have cleared properly, as seen in this video.

Three signs of an inexperienced shooter:

(1) When you hand them a weapon, they don't clear it;
(2) If you ever see them put there finger on the trigger when doing anything but firing;
(3) Barrel safety, pointing the barrel in an unsafe direction, ever.

It's kind of funny, the agent involved has sued the US government claiming the DEA deliberately leaked the tape and ruined his career:
