For all you doomers (including myself)...watch saturday night to see what "may" be possible...
I've been EXTREMELY hesitant to post this...simply because it's an animated film (cartoon)...but when a second screening of it was demanded at the NY international film festival...I decided to go ahead & post.
Cartoon Network - saturday evening (around 7-8 central time).
Nausicaa is the story of a people trying to survive in a toxic world, 1000 years after “The Seven Days Of Fire”…The industrial world is gone, and the cities have fallen. A cloud of poison called the Sea Corruption covers most of the world. On the edges of the Sea of Corruption lie a handful of kingdoms; one of these is the Valley Of Wind, a beautiful land that is protected from the poisons by ocean breezes.
Nausicaa isn't your typical one-dimensional heroine. She is a warrior, a princess, and a kind-hearted soul. Equally ferocious and caring, she bears the burden of her station in life and how her empathy with nature sets her apart from others. The key to her survival hinges on whether or not she can reconcile her innate understanding of the insects and animals that she feels most comfortable around, and her growing understanding of how brutal and insensitive man can be. Throughout the story, she shows compassion for the enemy and a deeper understanding of what is at stake if the war continues unabated.
I was unsure what topic to post thus under...mod's...if you need to move it...feel free to do so...even though it plays tomorrow night it could just as easily go under "off topic posts" as well... or even under psychology because it would do us all some good if we could "rise to the occasion" in the face of the worst.
Thanks.
