I want an AK-47, i hear theyre fun to shoot and the ammo is dirt cheap....i can safely say however that im probably one of maybe 3 people in my neighborhood who would want one so im not really worried about being surrounded by them.

Klinton may not have violated that FISA provision, but he did violate the constitution. However, him not being punished does not excuse Herr Bushkin's offenses, either. If you ask me, they should both be punished based upon the extent of their violations of the constitution, but given the size, scope, and nature of our crooked and oversized government, that's not very likely.

This new provision will just give you Brits even more incentive to carry a gun: to shoot any officer willing to unlawfully detain you. Or you could just continue to play by the power elite's rules because you're too scared of the likely reprecussions of defending yourself...

As for us Americans, the ACLU needs to be listened to and perhaps supported in this day and age of surveillance and encroaching fascism. They may not be perfect, but they are one of the precious few organizations standing up for at least some of the rights we are to be garunteed, even if they might partially ignore the 2nd amendment. Not perfect, not by a long shot, but they certainly do more good than harm. They are certainly no lesser evil, either, flawed they may be.
The unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the old growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder. ~Thomas Jefferson

file that under 'what if' and close the cabinet. contrary to what some believe, guns are not on par with pizza and ice cream: not everyone wants them. I seriously doubt ill ever be in a situation in which im surrounded by guns...and regardless a shitty economic situation and shitty upbringing breed most gun crime, not the simple fact that theres a gun laying around

2nd Amendment

As for the 2nd...
The ACLU agrees with the Supreme Court's long-standing interpretation of the Second Amendment [as set forth in the 1939 case, U.S. v. Miller] that the individual's right to bear arms applies only to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia. Except for lawful police and military purposes, the possession of weapons by individuals is not constitutionally protected. Therefore, there is no constitutional impediment to the regulation of firearms nor does it prohibit reasonable regulation of gun ownership, such as licensing and registration.

The national ACLU is neutral on the issue of gun control. We believe that the Constitution contains no barriers to reasonable regulations of gun ownership. If we can license and register cars, we can license and register guns.

The habit of the Supremes to occasionally remove one of our Constitutional rights is well known.

That does not change the original intent, which was that the militia, constituting all able bodied males over age 16, in order to be well regulated (meaning well trained, operating efficiently), required a population of citizens with the individual right of weapons ownership. This included "Their swords, and every other terrible instrument of the soldier..."* as noted at the time of the debate over the ratification of the original document.

From this we could even conclude that the Framers intended for all citizens to equally or even better armed than the military itself. How else would the original purpose of the 2nd Amendment be possible (protecting the citizens from their own government)?

...like Swiss citizens, who are required to maintain a working, loaded, fully automatic battle rifle in their homes.
