okay - so peak oil is on the horizon...
The potential for nuclear war has been around for a bit longer - is it really any worse than what has always been starring everyone in the face?
I am 29 , I have decent employment but by U.S. financial standards im fucking poor... I took an airplane trip for the 2nd time in my life about 3 weeks ago..
I had a window seat and was looking down at all the little human beings driving around in their tiny cars and the houses and agriculture...
and I was thinking about "peak oil"...
look, human beings are VERY SMALL relative to the entire worlds land mass... I read that you can fit the entire population of the world comfortably in less space than the size of texas .....
I read a poster write on this board that peak oil isn't an energy crisis - its a liquid fuel "crisis"..which I AGREE with... its also a CULTURAL and SOCIAL crisis more so than anything.....
the empirical reality is WE ARE LIVING WAYYYY ABOVE OUR MEANS....
you DON'T NEED a super market full of crispy creams, pastries and beer.
I DO think we need to understand these things as a way to serve as an intelligensia of educated people as a means of survival- and pull out that information when need be to build up a social safty net for like minded individuals who don't have a million dollars stashed away somewhere -
but beyond that none of us really have any control... if you try and "control" you will go insane - I know - i'm trying to find a therapist right now...
