So we can't do anything to avoid peak oil.

Eeeeeeeeeyaah! That be some noisy gears allright. I drove a Datsun B210 once that whined like that and I've an old 308 Ferrari that makes some strange drivetrain noises at high RPM but that Bimmer is just sick (and that is a GOOD thing!)

The driver is seriously competent. He double-declutches pretty damn smooth-never unbalances the car- and he never seems to miss an apex. It was pretty cool how he hunted down and ate those Porsches early on. The guy is seriously balls to the wall.

Man it sure sucks that the oil's running out. Can't all us gearheads go in on a few thousand acres for switchgrass and a cracking plant or something :cry:

If you work to build your own, a battery electric and some solar panels on your garage with a portable wind generator to charge your car while parked may be more up your alley.
