Thoughts on Communicating by PM

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Sat 01 Oct 2005, 02:21:17

Ever send anybody a PM? I send them to people here in this forum and what I've noticed is that some people will respond and some people, for whatever reason, won't respond. My PMs are always (well almost always) friendly. The posts you make are to an audience, but PMs are to a specific person. There really is a big difference. I can say that no one who has ever sent me a PM has ever failed to get an answer from me, and to everyone who has communicated with me in this fashion, I say thank you, it's been a pleasure to hear what you have to say and a pleasure to respond.

Are you dense? PM = private message. OK so they call it 'post reply' now. Jesus, spec, you really didn't know what I was talking about?

I thought it was 'pre-mentstrual' but without the 's' usually attached???

(couldn't resist..I am REALLY awful when it comes to stupid jokes and bad puns..I confess..I even have the temerity to laugh at my own! )

but seriously, I have always had an least one pm back to any one I've sent out, and respond to any I get in a friendly fashion.

I do feel bad because I wish that I could figure out how to utilize the teamspeak without a microphone, but so far haven't managed it, but maybe when I buy the mic's next week (I hope!) that will be different. Either that, or will have to bribe and/or lasso one of my kids to help me, but doing that is like pulling teeth and really prefer to do it as little as possible.

I think there is a 'chatroom' function, but can see how with the 'joshua-like' abilities of 'teamspeak' how it would be left in the dust..

maybe if there was a 'room' time on a rough/haphazard schedule that would let some of us internet dinosaurs that are so inclined to come in and chat live that way?

I know, I know, the fng here is still graspin at straws..

Yes, I have sent PMs. Yes, I have recieved PMs. Yes, I respond to PMs. Yes, I find PMs a valuble tool for finding information that would not be safe to post on an open forum. LONG LIVE PMs!!

I like them. So far, they have all been appropriate, and I have responded to all of them. However, if I get a hostile PM from someone on my ignore list, I reserve the right to ignore the PM as well.

SpecOp, any guy that is a melbrooks fan has to have at least a few screws loose. But then again, I always knew that about you, and thank God..it's the tightly screwed people that are the most fucked up on this planet, I truly believe. ;)

I've answered every PM I've received, but I have to admit, I rarely remember to even look across to see if I've got one, so there's no guarantee how long it will take before I notice it and answer.

It took me a bit to figure out the PM system. Yes, I am blond. but since then I think I've answered all I've received, even though some haven't been friendly or nice.
