Everything is ok ???

Unread postby spot5050 » Thu 29 Sep 2005, 19:22:00

My computer is working, the power is on, the shops are open, petrol stations have plenty of petrol and banks are functioning. Tomorrow the sun will rise, tomorrow I have to go to work.

The above is not newsworthy.

Good night doomers. Enjoy your scared lives.

...and the day after?

And when you retire, a nice cottage with a picket fence and roses round the door enjoying tranquility, health and a pension plus all your stock-market investments. The grandchildren visit in their SUVs from the city each weekend.

I'm not worried for tommorrow. It's the years to come and my childrens future.

If I was an ostrich I would not have a care in the world either.

Yep Spot, it's all good now and there's no need to think about tomorrow. Keep your head in the sand if it keeps you happy. My happiness is in preparedness.

Let me share a little story with you.

A little while ago our town received a letter from the TPTB to say that they would be working on the water main on Thursday between 10am and 3pm and the water would be off for that time. People were advised to store sufficient water for the day.

Thursday dawned a glorious day with the temperature rising to 30 degrees (about 95F I believe). A lovely warm day in Aussie. Like clockwork at 10am the water went off. Come 3pm and the water was still off.

At about 4pm my next door neighbour arrived with a jug and asked for some water from my storage tank (we have it as a backup system). She said she'd only filled the kettle as she wouldn't need more water - but now the water wasn't on and the kids would be home soon etc.

About a half hour later another neighbour arrived for water, followed later by another neighbour who needed water for cooking.

The water eventually came on at about 6pm.

Please note Spot, that these people clearly knew that the water was going off. They easily had the ability to store a little water but they chose not to do so. You, also, know that there are problems with supply of oil, but you are choosing to ignore the problem. Is that really smart? Will you still be smug when you are thirsty and hungry?

Please do not come to my door, jug in hand, when your water dries up and the shop no longer has food.

Good night cow... jumpin over da moon.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Some thing happened to us except I was the one asking the neighbour why the water was not on. We had received a note from the council but it was mixed in with a ton of pamphlets for the election!

So what if a bunch of losers in the Sudetenland just got absorbed into the Third Reich? And who cares about Czechoslovakia? Neville Chamberlain's got it all under control! Peace in our time, baby! It's all good!

Good night war-ninnies. Enjoy your scared lives.

The lights are on, the water's working. The car runs and gas is available at the stations. Gold is up to $474.00 USD per troy oz, silver at $7.51. There are 1500 houses on the market in my area of Los Angles compared to 900 just two months ago and 600 some six months ago. There were 3000 on the market when Southern Calif. real estate crashed in '89. The number of homes in San Diego County has doubled from the last year. There are more "For lease" and "For rent" signs up in the area with rents going so low that it doesn't even pencil out to pay for maintanence on some of the buildings. Drywall screws are $6.00 USD per pound versus $2.10 in the late '90s. Sheetrock is 8 bucks a sheet versus $2.20 a few years ago. None of the above was on the local TV news.

Good night car. Goodnight gas station. Goodnight house. Goodnight vegetable garden. Goodnight over-extended neighbors who paid way too much for their houses. Goodnight Paraordinance 14 .45 under my pillow.
