FTW: 16-Aug-04 Update

Postby EnviroEngr » Mon 16 Aug 2004, 22:07:50

During the "3 Lost Weeks of peakoil.com" much went up. Rather than to rehighlight everything again, I ask that you go to:

----> FTW

and scroll down to get to all the new stories. Mike is weighing the option of interacting with us on "Ask the Experts"

Keep that in mind as you read his stories. Both Dale Pfeiffer and Julian Darley will be here for sure in the upcoming weeks. Bear that in mind also.

FTW value

Postby Barbara » Tue 17 Aug 2004, 05:44:28

Enviro,
since this thread is dedicated to FTW, I want to tell this story.
FTW changed my life. I discovered it many years ago (5? 6? Don't remember). They opened my eyes on what was/is happening in the world. I joined the global movement thanks to FTW, and about Peak Oil their position was the definitive proof for me.
FTW is one of the most important sites of the whole Internet... sometimes I think the the Net worth its existence because of realities like that

Clarification

Postby EnviroEngr » Tue 17 Aug 2004, 21:36:53

Barbara,

Thanks for sharing the story. It has similarly been an important portal for me as well.

One point of clarification:

"sometimes I think the the Net worth its existence because of realities like that"

By that statement, do you mean that the Internet owes its existence to the existence of media like FTW? That is to say, without organizations like FTW, the Internet would eventually get destroyed?

Pardon my english, Enviro.
I was just saying that, among millions of useless/stupid/commercial sites, places like FTW make Internet a great thing, and make Internet something which is already changing the way we look at the world.

Englitalian

No worries on the English. It's more about me. I couldn't resolve in my head the most likely meaning. Your clarification helped me enormously. Thanks.

FTW: 23-Aug-04 Update

Postby EnviroEngr » Mon 23 Aug 2004, 19:52:50

From the annals of FTW, we have this:

OVER A MILLION BARRELS OF OIL A DAY LOST TO DEPLETION

With Mike's catch-line: [This is the clearest proof that not only is Peak Oil here, but that it is hitting sooner and harder than expected. These are numbers that cannot possibly be argued with. -MCR]

Is it time to act yet?

I have ordered "Crossing the Rubicon" by Michael C.Ruppert, but you can get an idea of what's in his book by reading a speech he made at the Commonwealth Club-SF this Aug. It can be downloaded FREE at www.fromthewilderness.com/

Here is a clip from that speech-

"ALMOST EVERYTHING I PRESENT TO YOU TODAY WILL BE FULLY
DOCUMENTED – BY MEANS OF APPROXIMATELY 1,000 ENDNOTES – IN
MY SOON TO BE RELEASED BOOK, “CROSSING THE RUBICON: THE
DECLINE OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE AT THE END OF THE AGE OF OIL.”
THE BOOK, PUBLISHED BY NEW SOCIETY PUBLISHERS, SHOULD BE
AVAILABLE FOR SALE FROM THE FTW WEB SITE WITHIN 2-3 WEEKS AND
IT WILL GO ON SALE NATIONALLY, THROUGH ALL MAJOR OUTLETS, BY
MID-OCTOBER.
SEPTEMBER 11TH
BOTH HERE IN THE UNITED STATES AND AROUND THE WORLD I AM NOT
ALONE IN BELIEVING THAT THE ATTACKS OF SEPTMEBER 11TH WERE
FACILITATED, ORCHESTRATED AND EXECUTED BY THE UNITED STATES
GOVERNMENT. HOWEVER, THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF
MISUNDERSTANDING AND CONCLUSION JUMPING ABOUT THESE
ASSESSMENTS THAT IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE EVIDENCE. I WAS
TRAINED AS A POLICE OFFICER AND DETECTIVE, AND FOR MANY YEARS
NOW I HAVE BEEN AN EFFECTIVE INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST BECAUSE
I HAVE ADHERED TO STRICT EVIDENTIARY AND INVESTIGATIVE
STANDARDS.
THE 9/11 ATTACKS WERE THE RESULT OF DELIBERATE PLANNING AND
ORCHESTRATED EFFORTS BY IDENTIFIABLE LEADERS WITHIN THE U.S.
GOVERNMENT, AND THE ENERGY AND FINANCIAL SECTORS, TO SEE A
PEARL HARBOR-LIKE ATTACK WHICH WOULD PROVIDE THE AMERICAN
EMPIRE WITH A PRETEXT FOR WAR, INVASION AND THE SEQUENTIAL
CONFISCATION OF OIL AND NATURAL GAS RESERVES, OR THE KEY
TRANSPORTATION ROUTES THROUGH WHICH THEY PASS. 9-11 WAS A
PREMEDITATED MURDER AND IN MY BOOK, AND HERE TONIGHT, I WILL
NAME SOME OF THE SUSPECTS WHO COMMITTED THE CRIME. IN MY
BOOK I WILL SHOW YOU OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE OF THEIR GUILT
WHICH I WOULD BE PROUD AND CONFIDENT TO PLACE EITHER BEFORE
A DISTRICT ATTORNEY OR A JURY."

You must read that speech!!

It's online and it's FREE!!

It shows how peak oil has affected the thinking of this administration to do TREASONABLE ACTS to secure it's power and of course OIL to power American dominence around the world!!

However, our aggression is backfireing, we have become the most hated country in the world, the people (insurgence) of Iraq are fighting back, and winning against our "war" against them. :P
This "New American Century" will not last any longer than nazi Germany lasted, as the OIL declines, so will our military power.

Peak oil means the decline of the American "empire".

Latest News at FTW

We Did it! - by Michael C. Ruppert

The G7 Admit They Have No Idea How Much Oil is Left and That Speculation is Not the Problem. – Peak Oil is now on the plate – In his first article since the publication of Crossing the Rubicon, FTW Publisher/Editor Mike Ruppert celebrates a moment and an admission that every Peak Oil activist has been working for. And he throws down a gauntlet to the economists and abiotic oil/alien technology worshippers they will be hard pressed to pick up. The bottom line is: We were right! Now the real work of caring for the human race, and especially its children, begins.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he bottom line is: We were right! Now the real work of caring for the human race, and especially its children, begins.

We are only about 40 years too late.

The die is cast, we are so overpopulated that there is no longer the time to reduce our excessive population painlessly. :(

Instead, we have doomed our children to a life of hunger, cold, hard labor and violence as the fossil fuels that have made this way of life possible, declines.

Yes we were right, but now after decades of warnings about what overpopulation will mean to our quality of life or even the survival of the human race, we will soon experiance the price of our refusal to accept reality of limits.

Instead of the bright exciting future we had planed for our children, they will experience instead the cost of our folly.
They will be told to die for our oil, they will die because of it's decline. 8O

Without fossil fuels, it's estimated that only about 1 to 2 billion people can be supported on our depleted planet.
We have ruined the soil, chopped down the forests, polluted the waters, depleted the fish in the sea and caused the extinctions of animals on land, we leave our children a ruined and wasted world not a bright and hopefull future.
Yes, we were right, I wish we had been wrong. :(

I wish we had faced the reality of limits and stopped population growth back in the 1950s, but we didn't and now we will pay the price of our "right" to reproduce as often as we want.
