Holmes you power on, brother!

And you're right about the weak getting a free ride, you saw what happened in NO and meanwhile a very nasty storm headed for TX somewhere, those honkies know they won't get any handouts and don't expect them, they just get ready and take care of business. And yes, we get beat down for being smarter, stronger, and harder working but in a post PO world those things are going to make the difference beween surviving and not, and the punishment will go the other way.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.
I am going to keep on workin and doing good things for people that truly deserve them. Like feeding the couple old vets on hardtimes living in the homeless shanty. My friend and I go down there and give some stuff and they always share something of theirs too. a smoke, pop, etc...
they wont take anything but a little money from the govmint which they deserve. these homeless guys we have here in town wont take much. they choose to live simply and in their little towns on the river.
gets me angry when the cops come and drive them out and ruin their homes becuase the elites are coming in for a parade and photo ops this month. bastards. The bad drugged out raping thieving ones do not seem to hang around long. they get weeded out and ran off. The real homeless are smart! its a tribe. they migrate up and down the southern tier here hunting and gathering our wasteful ways. I join in the dumpster diving too!
:-D
Keep the faith I say.

i hear it's not like that at most schools though...........

Tom Wolfe writes compelling fiction. I read "I Am Charlotte Simmons" and found it difficult to put down. There are many good things to say about his narrative abilities, and I'd say them if I was capable--I'm not. The main problem I have with his writing: he deals in pure stereotypes. He does it well, better than almost anyone. The stitching he uses to pull these stereotypes into a coherent story is not visible--he's truly a master. But about half way through the book, or so, I'm looking for that stitching. 'Cause I know it's there. A bit repetitive at times as well.

All in all though, I consider him a powerful writer. And as I told my wife, I want my daughter to read this book before she goes to college. Or maybe a few years into high school.

But....a lot of kids in college are studying. It's a good story, but he make it seem like kids are all immoral animals in college. They're not. Many are studying their butts off, partying as well--why not--but you'd think after reading this novel that all college kids are animals.

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm only a couple of hundred pages into it. Do you have any insights into how to encourage and fortify your beloved daughter to the social isolation involved in resisting the debauchery? We as parents play a role, but it isn't the last word in this crazy world. I've had one daughter already pass through the system, now she's playing professional volleyball in Europe. No doubt she's eating cheese and drinking wine every night. But I have another entering high school. Her mom won't let her date until she's 16. She's counting the months and she's such a sweetheart.

tell her to have fun but work hard, too. nothing wrong with debauchery as long as it's after a week of hard work.

I don't know why, but this makes me laugh! The world is soon to fall apart, so what the heck. You just don't want to see you're loved ones suffer.
