Cops: Man Admits Killing Child Molesters
Tuesday, September 06, 2005

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man turned himself in to authorities in the killing of two convicted child rapists, saying he picked the victims from a sheriff's Web site, police said.

Michael Anthony Mullen (search), 36, called 911 on Monday to claim responsibility for the killings, and officers who talked to him said he gave information that only the killer would know, according to a police news release. He was jailed for investigation of two counts of first-degree murder.

Hank Eisses (search), 49, and Victor Vasquez (search), 68, were found shot to death at their apartment Aug. 27. They were both classified as Level III sex offenders, considered the type most likely to reoffend. Sex offenders in Washington are required to register with local authorities, and the information is provided on the Web.

Mullen told authorities he targeted at least one of the two men after checking the county sheriff's Web site July 13, according to the police statement.

The bodies of Eisses and Vasquez were found by a roommate, also a sex offender. He said a man wearing a blue jumpsuit and a cap that said FBI on it came to their home, told them he was an FBI agent and said one of them was on a "hit list" on an Internet site, police said.

The roommate said he left while the "FBI" visitor was still there and found the bodies when he returned about four hours later.

Days after the killings, The Bellingham Herald received an unsigned letter claiming responsibility for the killings. Police notified convicted Level 3 sex offenders in the area as a precaution, but said the letter was vague and could be a hoax.

No, he deserves a kick in the arse for turning himself in. He should have kept on whacking them until caught, then he WOULD be a hero - instead this case will stay obscure, and he'll likely rot unknown in prison (as opposed to being in prison but being a hero with lots of people looking out for him).

I don't think he lynched anybody.

Not much chance of a mistake here.

We should take up a collection to buy the medal.

Dude, the guy didnt just find some random black guy and say "Look! A black guy with a doo rag! Hes a criminal for sure!" and whack'm. If your a registered Lvl 3 sex offender, it just isnt going to happen by accident.

Anyone can do this. Laws require sex offenders to list their names and addresses and notify the public whenever they move.

And yes, that man deserves a medal. The only justice is vigilante justice.

I wish there were more people like this. I wonder what made him do it though. Quite likely he was a victim himself either way its two less walking wastes of skin running around breathing good oxygen.

you people are sick.

yes, "child rape" is an evil and disgusting thing. but it is also a very broad class of offenses, made broader and broader by zealots looking for reelection fodder. Even with such broad definition, they are exceedingly rare crimes. The recidivism rates after treatment are very very low and these people served their time.

If you want this stuff to be punished by the death penalty, then write a letter to your senator. Once you start allowing people to punish others in their own way for crimes that have already been adjudicated, you are starting down a road backward into greater and greater evil. We are civilized because we have decided as a society not to allow people to murder each other for their own reasons.

Do you honestly think that a sick old man showing his weiner to a 14 year old is a more serious crime than armed robbery? murder? drug trafficing? honestly, think about it.

Why dont you look up what a Level 3 sex offender is, then get back to Spec about "sick".

These people deserved to die.

if they deserved to die, why hasn't congress made this a capital offense?

and level 3 sex offender can refer to any number of sex offenses, not just child rape.

and why don't you answer my other question...do you think a man convicted of touching a boys penis is worthy of a greater penalty than a man convicted of distributing meth (and thus ruining the lives of possibly hundreds of children and families of addicts)?

the gut reaction is to agree with you that these are sick people. but there are alot of sick people in the world and the question is, do we let trigger happy wackos with access to the internet decided who gets to live and die based on whatever particular crime they happen to despise the most? what if this vigilante hated gays, or republicans, or evangelical christians? do you even see what i'm trying to say? once you cross lines like this and endorse vigilante justice, you can only create more evil and chaos.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('sampo', '
') what if this vigilante hated gays, or republicans, or evangelical christians?

If that were the case, we'd not be singing his praises, would we? And if he hated repubs or evangelical xtians, he'd hold Democratic office.

But, hope this doesn't shock you, raping kids is worse than being a Republican, or being gay. Or believei in Jesus Christ. Yes, moral equivalency is a myth. Raping kids is very very bad.

I just wish the guy had whacked more of 'em before turning himself in. I hope he gets some Community Service and that's it.

Killing the right person doesn't justify murder.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('sampo', 'i')f they deserved to die, why hasn't congress made this a capital offense?

Because of the bleeding hearts that think criminals deserve a second chance...and a third...and a fourth.....

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'a')nd level 3 sex offender can refer to any number of sex offenses, not just child rape.

You dont get Lvl 3 by being 18 and sleeping with your 17 year old girlfriend.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'a')nd why don't you answer my other question...do you think a man convicted of touching a boys penis is worthy of a greater penalty than a man convicted of distributing meth (and thus ruining the lives of possibly hundreds of children and families of addicts)?

Absolutely. A person selling meth sells to users, who have a choice whether or not to use the drug. A child molestor doesnt give the child a chance, the child has no say in the mater. The child truly is a victim, not a willing participant.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 't')he gut reaction is to agree with you that these are sick people. but there are alot of sick people in the world and the question is, do we let trigger happy wackos with access to the internet decided who gets to live and die based on whatever particular crime they happen to despise the most? what if this vigilante hated gays, or republicans, or evangelical christians? do you even see what i'm trying to say? once you cross lines like this and endorse vigilante justice, you can only create more evil and chaos.

Me neither, but that doesn't mean that some things they say don't make sense. Christianity tells you that the human race is not smart or capable enough to judge on the life of a fellow human, only God can. The absence of such a God does not make the human race any smarter or more capable.

Think about it. Even judges armed with the cumulative knowledge of a few hundred years of legal practice err frequently.

So why should one guy armed with a gun do any better?

Because the little voices in his head have told him so?
