$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Chicagoan', 'I')f martial law is imposed, who do you think would be its first victims? By asking for martial law, you are inviting your own imprisonment. From your book, you seem to have a very good idea about what the government has been up to. The authorities have been planning for martial law for a very long time and you know it! Sorry for my rant, but I think the police state that is being built is just as scary as peak oil, and will do nothing but compound the suffering.
\.

I'm certainly not asking for martial law. I'm scared crapless of a police state also. In fact, one of my "hobbies" is trying to figure out what scares me more: the economic effects of the coming peak in oil production or the ramifications of the coming police state. Sometimes I find myself hoping they release the nanobot "gray goo" and just get the whole thing over with already

(Note to self: must start stretching hamstrings so as to outrun the nanobots)

My hope is that the martial law (when/if) it is imposed is used to prevent things like rioting, looting, or to enforce gas/driving rationing etc. . . rather than used to round up the political opponents of whoever is in power.

Of course, it may be used for both.

I think the first victims will be protestors. We've already seen that with the so called "Miami Model." For the immeadite future, I think it is safe to say we can expect more Miamis.

I'm listening to the show now, and haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Art really seems to be trying to do a serious show, but his callers keep calling in and saying there's no problem, the government has secret captured alien technology in underground bases. So Art says, why do you think that? And the caller says, well, I heard it on your show!

Talk about hoist / petard...

Is there anywhere one can listen to that broadcast without buying a subscription?

Art Bell taking live calls from storm area

Unread postby I_Like_Plants » Mon 29 Aug 2005, 05:50:55

I hope I"m not disobeying any forum rules, if I am, mods, just eliminate this thread thanks. Art Bell is taking calls from storm-affected areas, if you get him on the radio great, his web page has streaming audio too, and he may continue taking calls and talking outside of his radio broadcast hours.

I think they're on to something!

I bought this orange at the grocery store about 6 months ago. I use the same orange every morning for a tall glass of fresh squeezed OJ. Sometimes in the afternoon and evenings too. I just keep it in my pocket and squeeze out a cup whenever I'm thirsty.
