Diesel Fuel Forecast

Unread postby bruin » Wed 24 Aug 2005, 22:17:36

Looks like diesel is heading for a shortage all on its own.

http://www.nytimes.com/financialtimes/b ... 36497.html

With PO looming, it all makes sense. Everyone is scrambling to save money on transportation and diesel is (was) a good choice.

Good luck building all of those refineries to stop this shortage. Or maybe they already know there won't be enough crude anyways.

Specop_007 thinks the saving grace of diesel (short term anyways) will be biodiesel.

Specop_007 wouldnt argue this as a long term option, but he believes in the short term this could lessen any shortages.

Worst case scenarion, specop_007 will say piss off to Opec and go Vegy Power on his TDI.

Specop is known to have more then 1 pistol, which fit conveniently within Specops pants or glovebox.
Specop is also quickly working on an AR15 that breaks down and fits in a laptop case. Specop is very excited about the idea of a AR15 rifle in a laptop case. 8)

Sounds like my single shot NEF .300 WinMag broken down and stored on the tactical "assault cart".

Ci bai pukimak... (Your mom pussy) Why you people advocate biodiesel ?
Read that damned Monbiot biodiesel essay. Large area of Sarawak forest been cleared for oil palm plantation. The rivers here never went dry before but currently some of them only contains mud now.
When all the rivers run dry, all the forests have been cleared, all the food has been eaten, tell me the value of your money

Anyway, diesel demand stays strong in Europe, although it has been slowing down compared to the same period last year.

This year, 11% less unleaded gas was consumed then first half of 2004. Diesel consumption was down by a mere 1,5%. That is mainly because in Europe a lot of people choose diesel powered vehicles. You get good mileage, cheaper fuel and a higher value if you sell your car.

In Belgium we'll be seeing a regular diesel/biodiesel mix (2% biodiesel/liter) by the end of this year. This will allow to run your diesel engine on this mixture without having it adapted for biodiesel. If you would like to run it on pure biodiesel, adaptations will have to be fitted, especially for the high-power diesel engines (Tdi, commonrail...)

Biodiesel production is absolutely paltry compared to distilliate demand. Infact, if you put production of biodiesel over demand of diesel fuel, you could probably round the number to zero.

Best case scenario, spec op grows hemp in his backyard, extracts all the precious oils, and runs his vehicle off it.

MD is wondering also. MD is wondering if perhaps a new fad is emerging on PO.com
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.

Specop wonders why riverrat brings up the third person issue.
Specop is writing about himself. He cannot write in third person when he is writing about himself.
