I've been in a plane that got a hit, I dunno if that extreme, but there was a big CRACK! and flash, then I think everyone was kind of relieved that things weren't all messed up and we were still flying OK and then the pilot made some lame joke about not needing that cup of coffee that morning. It's not as uncommon as you'd think (I mean the plane being hit by lightning, pilots make lame jokes all the time).

I was on a plane coming back from Germany when it got hit by lightning.

Loud crack, lights inside the plane dimmed, light poured in from outside, and then everything's back to normal. About a minute later, the pilot said on the intercom that we had indeed been struck, and that everything was ok.

It was pretty friggin wild, and I would not like to repeat the experience.

I got hit in a 737 taking off from Atlanta. The left engine was struck and it exploded. We immediately went into a dive, and barely leveled out before crashing. After getting the plane under control, the pilot gets on the speaker and says, "Ladies and gentleman, as you might have realized, that was not normal. We will be returning to Atlanta now."

This was not one of my more pleasant experiences.

I have also had the cabin pressurization system in a plane go out and a fuel line blow out on a prop plane as we were preparing to take-off (causing an engine fire). You don't want to be on a plane with me.
