How will a snob react?

Unread postby Brandon » Wed 27 Jul 2005, 23:37:38

You know the type- good looking, better than everyone else attitude, often wealthy, arrogant confidence, etc.

How will they react when learning of this immense forever crisis that's coming? Even if their wealth insulates them from the price shocks, seeing the rest of the world crumbling is going to be a shock. Think they might get off their high horse and be civil to others?

Much of the world is presently crumbling. Significant areas of U.S. cities are doing likewise. I doubt that the top 1% will know or particularly care.

As I think about it, I wonder - are any of us particularly jarred by images from the failing areas of the world?

They will figure out, like they always do, how to get even richer from the misfortunes of others.

Surely, they'll wonder why the crumbling freeways are deserted from the comfort of their limos on their way to the spaceport...

There’s room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill

I don't think the master class will be upset, they care only about their family and friends. The masses are like livestock to them.

I was going to respond to this thread and then I saw Jack's avatar. That was like 7 hours ago. I don't know where all the time went. I'm really not sure what happened or where I am. What website is this?

Yeah I know what you mean. I was there for a few minutes but luckly I blinked a few times and was able to tear my eyes away.

On the topic front: It will be enjoyable to see the people from the posh side of town struggling to cope along with the rest of us.

Not sure about the posh people's reaction. What did they do during the Great Depression?

LMAO Seldom Seen - it does have a way of grabbing your attention, doesn't it :).

Doly,
Well, those who did not lose their wealth gererally insulated themselves from the masses and continued on as normal - private and exclusive clubs became more private and exclusive. Those who lost everything either learned to cope, or committed suicide.

People were generally civil. But, that being said - we're in a different world now than 1930. I dont think it's going to be very pretty.
