Couple Cleared Of Child Sex Charges

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Parents who were charged with child abuse last August have been exonerated and reunited with their children.
Charbel Hamaty was charged with sexually assaulting his newborn son, and Teresa Hamaty was arrested for taking sexually explicit pictures.
The couple describe the ordeal as a "nightmare" that started over a roll of film that Charbel Hamaty dropped off at a north Raleigh Eckerd.
The photo that raised alarms shows a naked Kristoff, now 16-months-old, getting a kiss from his father on the belly button, Teresa Hamaty said.
When the photos were shown to the police, the couple was arrested, and Kristoff was put in protective custody, while his half-sister, Victoria, was handed over to her birth father.
Teresa Hamaty was released on bond, but wasn't allowed contact with her children for months.
Charbel Hamaty spent six months in prison before the charges were dropped because of a report submitted by an expert saying there was no criminal intent in the photos.
The couple said they are happy to be reunited with their children and to leave their legal troubles behind them.

My wife dropped some film off at the lab the other day that showed our infant son in the buff, laying on his tummy. I told her to be careful what she drops off at the lab, but she just laughed it off as ridiculous. Ridiculous, indeed.

This is why I have a digital camera.
I have 3 kids.
I KNOW I have a few that some asshat "For the babies" liberal would say is child pron.
Maybe if your a sick asshat "for the babies" liberal.
To me, there pictures of my children. Nothing more, nothing less. And with digi, I "develop" the film myself so no worries.
Besides, I dont want the store clerk to see the nekkid pics of the wife.

I am not sure I agree this is rooted in gynocracy, nor is it rooted in fundamentalist religion.
Somewhere our culture has gone completely bizarre with respect to sexuality. Kissing a baby's belly is deemed criminal while traditionally taboo sexual contact is celebrated.

NOTE TO EVERYONE:
Do not take pictures of your children naked. Film labs are required by law to report any photos with naked children. The police are then required to report the photos to child services. Child services the world over are then required to do whatever the hell they want (which typically includes getting everyone ryled up but in the end doing nothing).
We have gone through this already thanks to nieve in-laws who thought our kids were cute while playing in the bath tub. The incident was nothing and other than an a trip to the police station and a home interview/inspection nothing ever became of it
however rumours of child abuse can destroy lives and NEVER endanger your family by needlessly subjecting it to the whims of a social service worker (who do not have to follow due process like the police).
On a side note (while I'm ranting away) If you know of child abuse in your neighbourhood TALK TO THE POLICE first. Police are required to investigate and will only procede if there is evidence. Social workers on the other hand are not required to do anything and if they do get involved they are allowed to act without evidence

That's funny because my first reaction, was "stupid moral majority conservatives."
The liberals I know think this stuff is terrible. The conservatives you know think it is too. Divide and conquer anyone?

I recieved a visit from a police investigator as a result of taking a picture of my dog playing with a rubber severed arm (halloween prop) - I would have thought it would have been obvious to anyone that it was rubber... They called me first and still demanded to see the prop even after I assured them it was just a rubber arm. Therefore I made sure I had company when this investigator showed up and we were juggling the arm between ourselves in the parking lot when he arrived. 
I now have a digital camera and will never use a photo developing service again. Just another brick in my paranoia wall....
