Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who this week became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, called out Fox News for belittling her struggle to afford an apartment in Washington, D.C., during a Friday panel discussion on “America’s Newsroom.”
The Fox panelists snickered all the way through their chat on the topic, described in a chyron as: “Self-proclaimed socialist says she can’t afford DC rent.”
Contributor Judy Miller actually laughed after host Bill Hemmer recalled that Ocasio-Cortez ― whose name no one pronounced correctly on the show ― was working in the service industry before she launched into her campaign to represent New York’s 14th District.

Those expensive clothes were given to her to be photographed in for an Interview magazine photo shoot. She will earn $174,000/year when she starts her term in Congress, but it won't start until January next year.
I note that she campaigned the old-fashioned way, by walking the streets and knocking on a lot of doors. She even showed off her worn-out running shoes that she had worn.

Keep in mind that any tax increase to corporations and the rich people that own the stock gets passed right through to the customers which is us.

FiveThirtyEight | Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight uses statistical analysis — hard numbers — to tell compelling stories about politics, sports, science, economics and culture. -- that was my favorite source during the recent election, because it has shown itself to be reliable in the past.
I knew about its predictions before the election, but after the 2016 election, I did not want to become overconfident. I'd see the Democrats having a 7 in 8 chance of winning or some similar fraction, but I knew that 1 in 8 is not zero. This caution seemed very justified in the early hours of vote counting, when the 538 model started getting jumpy and giving the Democrats probabilities as low as 1 in 2. But Nate Silver conceded that his model was a bit overly aggressive in its predictions, and he made it more cautious. The model's predictions then settled down.
It was satisfying for me to see the Democrats win by a sizable margin, even if some of the elections had yet to be called. This means that they won't need complete agreement to proceed.
I've been following We’re Tracking The Unresolved Midterm Races | FiveThirtyEight and there's an interesting one in Maine. Republican Bruce Poliquin claims that he has more votes than Democrat Jared Golden, but neither has a majority. The winner will be determined by instant-runoff or ranked-choice voting. Two other candidates were in the race, and when they are dropped from the count, their supporters' next choices will be counted, adding to the votes for the two front runners.
From the article, "However, on Tuesday, Poliquin filed a lawsuit alleging that ranked-choice voting could be illegal under federal law and is demanding that the counting stop (and he be declared the winner)."

Let's see. Medicare for All would replace medical-insurance premiums with taxes, and we all know how much Real Americans absolutely *enjoy* paying medical-insurance premiums. Middle-class taxpayers can and will benefit from reliable medical insurance, and they will benefit from insurance that lets them choose their own doctors, instead of insurance that allows one to choose only the ones "in the network", as if it was imposed on them.
Middle-class taxpayers will also benefit from not having heavy tuition loads, and also from getting to have paid family and sick leave.
As to ending the War on Drugs, demilitarizing our police, and abolishing for-profit incarceration, I thought that all the wounded taxpayers out there would eagerly support these things. But instead, they seem to enjoy paying taxes to pay for these things.
As to protect DREAMers & TPS recipients, simplify the paths to citizenship and abolish ICE, I thought that opponents of taxes would jump for joy at the prospect of abolishing ICE, and opponents of government bureaucracy would do likewise at the prospect of simplifying becoming a citizen.
Middle-class taxpayers will benefit from renewable-energy investment, since it means that they won't have to pay more for food and A/C. They will also benefit from ending the corrupting influence of corporate finance in public elections, because their voices will be heard more easily.

An evidence-free assertion. That did not happen in the 1950's and 1960's. I think that our economy is currently top-heavy and could use some corrections.
