I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, he was very obnoxious, but on the other hand I think people should be able to say what they have to say. Oh well, its your show.

I promise that was true, you did have server maintenance or something on the home page, and someone said the hackers had been. I didn't correct them. but it was then and the posts just disappeared. :)

I am strangely sad to see him go.

I had mixed feelings as well.

And we debated this at length in the Mod forums.

We try to be least restrictive... but this had gone too far was the consensus.

And I yielded to the majority opinion.

Damn! You're going to sue him? For what? Libel and defamation of character? Criminal charges for solicitation of suicide? Prosecution according to the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, because he sucked up your bandwith which costs you money, no direct permission to use your server resources, and wasted your time? How about theft of services? He stole your time from you that you could have put to better tasks than playing Babysitter to BiGG.

Woah! JD is BiGG? That's strange on first glance, but after reading in HoF, it isn't really that strange. Go for the jugular!

Also, what's to prevent him from signing on under another name?

Jeez. It's unfortunate things had to get this ugly.

I'm sure most people would agree BiGG was obnoxious, and he certainly had no
clue when to concede points or backdown - not much grace in that regard.

Though I do feel he did make some good points from time to time, and generally
wasn't more than a little annoying. Though, like a puppy, there were times when
he needed to be swatted with a rolled up piece of newspaper.

Sueing him seems like you may be taking things a little too far. Just let him go.

Though of course I don't know the nature of his threats (nor do I really have any
desire to know).

BiGG? Banned? But he was always so nice and well mannered. I'm shocked, just SHOCKED!

Aaron,

From experience, this may carry on further than necessary. Are you going to get his ISP into your suit as well? You may need to find out if his violation of CoC matches with his ISP's CoC. Then bring his ISP into the picture to get him altogether. This will cut off his connection from his current ISP, buying you time and reprieve for awhile.

Unless he's on a static IP source (very unlikely) there's nothing stopping him to return to spam. Even via PM. Again from experience, you can insert phpbb codes to limit new users < x-number-of-posts to use the PM function to delay spamming, but then if he reaches unto this stage he'll be in the spammer arena, allowing for monetary damages (to you! Sponsorship!!) maybe, plus civil action.

Not entirely sure how far you'd go, but I guess its easier(?) for your team to stop mosquitoes (new signup spamming) vs dealign with the flames.

(Just one day after I ignored him......eck)
regards,
Rostov
