No the moderator said you were using different IPs and as someone pointed out, proxy servers are easily available and commonly used. Once again personal attack - FAILED

As John McCain said of Louie Gohmert,

“Sometimes those are, comments like that are made out of malice, but if someone has no intelligence, I don’t view it as being a malicious statement. You can’t respond to that kind of thing.”

"For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst and provide for it." - Patrick Henry

The level of injustice and wrong you endure is directly determined by how much you quietly submit to. Even to the point of extinction.

HVAC,

I don't know, maybe. I've met a fair number of retirees who have abandoned their suburban homes in the city core. Then again I live in the city core so that's what I would see. Hard to tell what is right from my single view point.

I surely understand your argument. Likely the answer is a mix.

We are still struggling to get downsized to move out of the apt. It's a real haul. I'm doing repairs and repainting as we go. Making it ready to rent out. Fixing all those little things that didn't bother us personally. I'm still amazed at the amount we are disposing. A single closet can vomit out enough stuff to fill a small room.

Newfie - live-aboard life certain gets one down to the bare essentials. And it certainly sounds far more enjoyable/fullfilling than the other frequent simple-life retiree lifestyle - RV'ing. Sailing takes a self-reliant spirit blended with hard-earned skills and knowledge. RV'ing takes a driver's license and a good credit card. Good on 'ya.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('yellowcanoe', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('hvacman', ' ')In its own way, Newfie's home is a floating McMansion from most of the world's perspective. But he can "afford" it so it is not excessive to HIM, and he would be very, very irritated to be told otherwise by those-who-know-better.

I like the line "A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money".

A hole in the water which can go anywhere. Depending on skill level, research & ingenuity, & where you place the hole- it can be not very expensive- comparable to paying rates on a house- which can't be moved & is utterly subject to local market values.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cog', 'Y')ou should get shot down over it since I am not your slave nor are you entitled to my work or product of my work. If you want to convert someone, threatening them with confiscation of their wealth by armed goons of the government, is not the right way of going about it.

Although, I agree with the above statement, there are limits. If what you are doing negatively affects my freedoms, you need to either stop and/or pay compensation. For example, if you live up hill from me and dump your used motor oil on the ground on your own property that's your right. But, if that oil flows onto my lands, you are going to have problems with me.

On a larger scale, every time we drive our car, we hurt a lot of others with both the CO2 and other carcinogens spewed from the tailpipe, and we should be charged for that with a gas consumption tax. The biggest consumers pay the most taxes. Where the tax money goes doesn't really matter, replace other taxes, split it equally between all the citizens, who cares. The point is, you are being penalized for hurting others without their consent.
