$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('onlooker', 'I') am just curious about how everyone is coping emotionally with the state of the world and what seems are the dire and dismal prospects for the future? I have been curious about this for some time. I myself have an attitude derived I guess from having already lived 53 years. It is a calm acceptance , a peace if you will. It is derived from not fearing much of anything and also an acceptance of whatever life brings including the possibility of untimely death.
Its the same for me. I look on the woes of this world and I am at peace. Like you I fear nothing and I accept everything. I go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and always remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. I speak my truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. I take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. I nurture strength of spirit to shield myself in sudden misfortune. But I do not distress myself with dark imaginings. I know that I am a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; and that I have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.

Just kidding.
My main reaction is actually amusement. I can't believe the crazy things US US politicians do and say, and its the same or worse in the EU and elsewhere. The crazier it all gets the more I laugh at it. The war in Iraq ended and then it didn't. The EU welcomed a million illegal immigrants and then it didn't. Peak Oil has turned out to be not as bad as feared (so far) while global warming is turning out to be worse then expected (so far). The end of the world is turning out to be very entertaining indeed, so "Bring on the popcorn".

Bring on the popcorn!
Cheers!
