I'm a hypocrit! Good for me!

Unread postby lorenzo » Fri 14 Jan 2011, 10:45:24

When oil drops below $70, I dump Peakoil.com from my list of preferred websites. When it nears $100, I'm back.

Is hypocrisy and denial the biggest threat to humanity? My behavior might be typical for most people. When we know that a problem exists, but it isn't perceived as highly visible, we tend to ignore it. When it comes near, we claim to be the first to want to act. Perhaps the mind of a single individual is not prepared enough to deal with huge, planetary, society-threatening problems. Maybe we were just meant to take care of our garden, our kids and to go hunting in the bush. Our brain hasn't evolved rapidly enough to cope with the problems of modernity.

In any case, to my defense: I am a good hypocrit, because I have a track record of coming and going here that dates back to at least 2005.

Any other weaklings like me on this board?
