Wikileaks releases Pentagon report claiming wikileaks is a threat to the Pentagon and could be funded by the CIA...wuh?
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/18/us/18wiki.html?ref=us
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Pentagon assessed the danger WikiLeaks.org posed to the Army in a report marked “unauthorized disclosure subject to criminal sanctions.” It concluded that “WikiLeaks.org represents a potential force protection, counterintelligence, OPSEC and INFOSEC threat to the U.S. Army” — or, in plain English, a threat to Army operations and information.

WikiLeaks, true to its mission to publish materials that expose secrets of all kinds, published the 2008 Pentagon report about itself on Monday....

WikiLeaks, which won Amnesty International’s new media award in 2009, almost closed this year because it was broke and still operates at less than its full capacity. It relies on donations from humans rights groups, journalists, technology buffs and individuals, and Mr. Assange said it had raised just two-thirds of the $600,000 needed for its budget this year and thus was not publishing everything it had.

Perhaps the most amusing aspect of the Army’s report, to Mr. Assange, was its speculation that WikiLeaks is supported by the Central Intelligence Agency. “I only wish they would step forward with a check if that’s the case,” he said.

The War On Wikileaks

Unread postby mattduke » Sat 27 Mar 2010, 21:06:37

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A') newly leaked CIA report prepared earlier this month (.pdf) analyzes how the U.S. Government can best manipulate public opinion in Germany and France -- in order to ensure that those countries continue to fight in Afghanistan. The Report celebrates the fact that the governments of those two nations continue to fight the war in defiance of overwhelming public opinion which opposes it -- so much for all the recent veneration of "consent of the governed" -- and it notes that this is possible due to lack of interest among their citizenry: "Public Apathy Enables Leaders to Ignore Voters," proclaims the title of one section.

Here is an excellent article on the current wikileaks action over at salon.com that I encourage everyone to read.

The spooks are coming right out of the closet and spooking people. Apparently a wiki-leak staff member was shown surveillance photos of fellow staff members while being interrogated about the decryption of a government file.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')WO US soldiers who saw a helicopter attack on a group of Baghdad men and children - which was later broadcast on whistleblower website WikiLeaks - have apologised to the Iraqi people.

They were only following orders.

Re: Wikileaks-Featured Soldiers Apologize

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '&')quot; The people of the United States need to realise what we have done and are doing to you and the people of your country.
"We humbly ask you what we can do to repair the damage we have caused."

McCord said he enlisted to go to Iraq and help the Iraqi people."I was living in a fairytale, obviously," he said. "Our job was not to protect the Iraqi people, it was more along the lines to out-terrorise the terrorists."

Jesus, well that clears things up eh? Where's Loki on this, he was sticking up for these soldiers as I recall. And now one of the soldiers is pretty much admitting they're worse than the terrorists.

I wonder though if this "McCord" was one of the guys in th chopper, or was he ground forces? I'm surprised anyone's come forward at all.. what's done is done, the time to have a conscience was beforehand. It's nice they're starting a "scholarship fund" but really that does not make it all better and warm and fuzzy.

EDIT: ah i see now, they were ground forces who witnessed the attack? they shouldn't be the ones apologizing, where the hell are the choppers guys, they did the shooting

Wikileaker arrested: massive story may be brewing

Unread postby dorlomin » Mon 07 Jun 2010, 15:36:15

http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/06/leak/ Apparently wikileaks have thousands of US diplomatic cables.

For anyone unsure of how explosive this sort of thing can be, Christopher Boyce relased similar information to the Soviets it allegedly included evidence for CIA involvment in the Gough Whitlam affair: i.e. the toppling of the democratically elected head of government of Australia.

(cant seem to find the search tool, this should be merged with the original Wikileaks thread)

US hunts wikileaks founder.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')merican officials are searching for Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks in an attempt to pressure him not to publish thousands of confidential and potentially hugely embarrassing diplomatic cables that offer unfiltered assessments of Middle East governments and leaders.

Uh huh..... I would mind reading that....

He is not in the United States. He recently appeared at an event in New York via skype, supposedly from Australia. He had been scheduled to appear in person.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')elling the truth about the government is a crime. So Pentagram hitmen are looking for Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, before he explains to the people of the world just what Hillary and the Statist Department are up to. Perhaps they hope to torture him to death, alongside Bradley Manning. That’s what they mean by national security.

Wikileaks to release video.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he whistleblowing website WikiLeaks says it plans to release a secret military video of one of the deadliest US air strikes in Afghanistan in which scores of children are believed to have been killed.

WikiLeaks announced the move in an email to supporters. It said it fears it is under attack after the US authorities said they were searching for the site's founder, Julian Assange, following the arrest of a US soldier accused of leaking the Afghanistan video and another of a US attack in Baghdad in which civilians were killed.

This guy is nuts. He will go to jail for the rest of his natural life, or be shot for treason.
Anyone with a brain can figure that nastiness galore is going on in Afghanistan.
I suspect that as usual, even if wikileaks release this data, it will not see the light of day in the MSM.
Occasional f%@#ups aside, evidence of a continued campaign of over the top violence with scant regard for 'collateral damage' would be pretty bad for the USA's already suffering PI.

Governments Biting Fingernails Over Upcoming Wikileak

Unread postby mattduke » Sat 27 Nov 2010, 14:19:48

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'D')avid Cameron and other world leaders were being briefed by the US state department about what American diplomats fear will be contained in the expected leak of thousands of sensitive diplomatic cables sent to Washington by US ambassadors around the world.

The leak is expected to be co-ordinated by the WikiLeaks website, which has previously published secret details of military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Newspaper editors were today asked to brief the government if they plan to publish sensitive diplomatic files. But Downing Street stressed that the DA (defence advisory) did not mean court action was likely to suppress publication of the documents. The issue of the so-called D-notice is supposed to be a reminder that newspapers should be concerned for UK military operations.

US officials, including the secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, have been trying to brief allies, including Cameron, on what they expect to be in the documents.

Most issues governments deal with are minor in relative importance. How many governments are serious about peak oil, the mitigation of climate change in the short term, prevention of habitat destruction, mitigation of desertification trends, or looming water or food shortages as a direct result of climate change and peak oil?? The list of 'REAL ISSUES' the governments of the world should be addressing goes on and on.

Instead they all focus on the trivial. We had a conservative politician elected in Canada almost solely on the local issue of public vs. private car insurance premiums. Politicans argue about the size and location of new sports stadiums, various minor changes to taxation law, and talk publicly about anything other than the things that really matter to people in the aggregate.

A day or two ago I was listening to talk radio while I was stuck in a traffic jam. The pundits were discussing the major issue of what 'Real Scotsman's should wear under their kilts', the standard answer of 'nothing' had created a public controversy that not wearing underwear underneath was 'insanitary and childish'.

I seriously doubt anything of substance will come out of the new wikileaks report! We don't have any politicans anywhere talking about the real issues.
