In my efforts to try to find out stuff I'm always hindered by not knowing where to look, googling for things is ok, if your know what you are supposed to google for...

So, I request everyone here to PM me all your best weblinks, concerning peak-oily issues, including but not limited to
energy, economy, news, humor, forums, agriculture, ecology, biology...

I realise, and hope, that I might get flooded with links... so please give me a very brief explanations of what it's for, along the lines of:

Nuclear energy: http://beheer.oprit.rug.nl/deenen/

Also, I'm sure there are lots of link-collections out there, please point me to them.

I will then try to compile all this into a web-page, or many, and post it here

If you prefer, you can mail them to me as well, at peak_agren@yahoo.com

thanks in advance everyone...

My favorite links are more general reference links. Not peak-oil specific, but very useful in discussing the issue.

The CIA World Fact Book:

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/

Detailed information about every country in the world, including demographics, economy, geography, etc. If you want to know if Albania imports petroleum, how much arable land Canada has, or what the gender ratio in China is, you can find out here.

What is made from a barrel of crude:

http://www.phoenixgasprices.com/crude_products.asp

Since the question of how to replace oil requires knowing what we use it for.

World Oil Market and Oil Price Chronologies: 1970 - 2003:

http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/chron.html

Fascinating and useful graph of the price of oil, and events affecting that price.

The Population Reference Bureau:

http://makeashorterlink.com/?V26C135C8

With past, current, and future projections of world population.

Energy Consumption Tables:

http://www.dti.gov.uk/energy/inform/ene ... able.shtml

Detailed information about U.K. energy use.

Energy economics:

http://www.abelard.org/briefings/energy-economics.asp

A good, brief overview of the problems with trying to replace oil. Includes a table of EROEIs for popular alternatives.

Thanks to those that responded!
I must say I'm a bit surprised about the lack of feedback I got in this thread. Is there really no-one else that has links that might be interesting for the rest of us?

Anyway, a small alteration to the original post is in order, I have volunteered to administrate the Web Links section of PO, so contributions will be put up there. So, please help to make my task easier, send me links, either through PM or use the "Add link" button under Web Links
