I was checking the excellent article of Khebab in the oil drum here
So, around Nov 2005 we reached peak on light crude, according to other threads we may have left behind peak of exports, and now we are in the plateau, the present levels of oil in the market are being feed by less and less countries that have to make it up for the ones that can't produce anymore, plus the ever increasing demands of global energy.
Preparations anywhere?. Our economy is being sustained by the confidence in the energy markets plus the momentum of growth of years behind. Let's not forget also that most of the economy rest on the shoulders of multinationals that in order to preserve their existence, need to have huge profits, no profits in the short term, and they will close down and to hell with the people. It seems to me like a big Dieoff lurking in the future. How long? I consider that this situation can go on maybe for 2 years more, while confidence remains high since markets will think that atomic and not alternative sources of energy will make up for the diminishing levels of Oil and gas, but after 2008 all bets are off.

Well, and lets not forget that what with all this disappering production, somehow inventories are stabile, and full.

Crazy concept, less production, more demand, same full inventories. Perhaps when they go to check the fluid level in all those tanks they have just read the Wall Street Journal and their confidence and enthusiam after reading about momentum and growth causes them to lie about the fluid levels?

Call me crazy, but if we can blame neocons for 9-11, we can blame those tank gauger guys for full inventories...plus they mostly live in red states, I'm betting...suspicion enough right there.
So....heading into our 3rd year post peak and I'm still getting caught in traffic jams!! DieOff already!

And what do you need to wage Resource Wars?

Money...and lots of it.

Bush's Burgeoning Budget

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')ASHINGTON, D.C. - Monday is budget day in Washington, and to mark the occasion, President Bush is expected to send to Congress a pro-growth, low-tax document with some eye-popping numbers. Buried within it, according to a senior Democrat, will be a $784 billion item--for national defense. That'll be the figure everyone focuses on and that will be the President's biggest problem.
