I've been told before that I have a good voice. Well the cook starts in with one of Elvis' goofy tunes we heard the day before when the FemaleOwner who loves Elvis played for us some Vegas CD of Elvis' in which he sang a Steve Lawrence song. So I countered with another Steve Lawrence song that goes like this:
go away, little girl
go away, little girl
I'm not supposed
To be alone with yooouuuu
So I sing this as mellow and smooth as I can when the waitress gets upset. "That's so gross, that's disgusting. You can make anything sound alright if you do it right, but that is totally gross!" Rather ironic, don't you think? These young people aren't as sophisticated as they think they are. The song is not about the seduction of a 'little girl' by an older man, is is about the seduction of an older man (i.e. daddy) by the little girl testing her femininity. I'll leave you to consider the psychology of this. Here is the rest of the stanza:
I know that your lips are sweet
But our lips must never meet
I belong to someone else
And I must be truuuuuuuuuue
