Tom Hanks once stated in a movie the Godfather trilogy the I Ching of the business world. I recall a book a book I got about 10 years ago called The Mafia Manager that had a section called mafia wisdom. Turns out there is a list of 2-3 dozen informal rules that have been passed down over the last 100 years. The purpose of the code is to stay out of the joint or avoid ending up dead. In our case God forbid, in a PO scenerio TSHF we want to stay out of the Superdome or end up dead. Here is just a few I found. Should a emergency or situation arise, wisdom can more valuable than a handgun.
The best armor is to be out of range
When skating on thin ice-skate fast
If you walk into a warehouse and can't spot the mark-it's because your it
The higher the ape goes up the tree-the more he exposes his big bald ass to the world
If you must lie-be brief
A runaway nun always speaks ill of her convent
Scuff the boot-save the toe
A handfull of grain does not fill a bag-but it helps
Never make a decision when angry
Never reveal 100% to anyone
A man is worth nothing without his word
Never forgive betrayal
When you cant win fair bend or break the rules
Never be complacent with peace-sometimes it is a prelude to war
Over estimate the time it will take to do a job-underestimate the payoff
This should not be confused with machiavellism, which is more about opportunism and throat cutting. This is a code of proverbs to keep your skin.
